just watched the movie again for the first time in ages.... there should be more treasure hunt adventures like this made for sure cos i love them... anyway just wondering, didnt they say kevin hart "owns" the island? dont know if that was meant literally... but if it was, surely the treasure on his island should have been his? and werent they all trespassing?

My bet is he leased a very large chunk of the island and was the major source of income for the island and thus he called it his island. But he did not own it or all of it. That is my guess on it. The church grounds were not his and the location where the treasure was found was not his. That is my guess on it.
