Man, how painful were all those forced geek references?

Halo, Dawn of the Dead, and 500 Star Wars references later I didn't have the strength left to cringe anymore. They were all so painfully forced...

Military protocol and quarantine didn't seem to exist either. They kind of let criminals and infected persons wander around the compounds without so much as a "can I see some ID?". And people's reactions to seeing zombies, and murder, seems to be pretty casual. Very ridiculous.

HOWEVER...

Cool gore effects at least, if only they'd not cut away so much. Surprising they showed what they did on Sci Fi.

You hit the nail on the head. Too bad too many other folks are enthralled with this POS.

Phantasm, Aliens, terminator 1-2-3, etc. they were all there. It was as if the writers thought we would think them so damned clever for forcing these geek moments on us. Yes, exalted writers, we all get the joke already, dammit! How about getting us a better script. Tongue in Cheek references to dozens pieces of pop culture trivia gets old after the first, oh, one hundred, or so. *groan*

You're not stupid so don't act like it, it's a stupid act. BK

BTW what movie is that quote from?

Also that's a bad sig to have. It is likely to make someone believe the poster is being an insulting jerk from the get go.

My favorite was the Lois & Clark reference in the freezer...
Judson asks Quinn to use his heat vision to warm the place up. Quinn replies that he doesn't HAVE heat vision. (pretty obscure reference) At least it wasn't reference after reference like a Mel Brooks movie, and I love his movies, at least it took itself a LITTLE seriously. :)

The constant geek references were agonizing.
But then again, so was the whole damn movie.
Suck, suck, suck!!

One day I'll learn not to buy DVDs sight unseen.

I enjoyed the film but I do agree that the references did feel very forced. Especially when coming from that fit barmaid. She just wouldn't be the type.

And also the army boss guy saying "your story has more holes than a Michael Bay film". That was cringeable.

Let's make this character endearing with obscure references, weeeeee!.

I liked how they made fun of Micheal Bay, saying his movies have plot holes, when this movie has no room to talk!

I guess if you have no dialogue in your movie, just fill it up talking about movies that do!
Anyway, this movie was pretty bad.
also on a side note, Is it just me or does ever low budge movie on the Sci-fi Channel end in an Explosion?

Personally, I found the "Dawn of the Dead" discussion interesting. Holly sounded like she knew what she was talking about. (Still, as Quinn said, "Give me Ving Rhames with a shotgun any day.")

It's not that serious, especially given that the movie is supposed to be funny and not be 'realistic'.

Nothing is as bad as the part where they start talking about Black Sabbath.

"Ooh, Sabbath rocks."

It was funny to me up until that point, then I wanted to hit someone.

i agree, i hated all the refrences if you can even call them that since basically they were all just talking about the movie or game. The ones from the girl were the worst though because like someone else said she just wouldnt be the type.

The only one i actually liked was the phantasm sphere in the funeral home because it didnt just say "ohhh phantasm!" it was slightly more subtle.

The michal bay one was funny too because an army guy would never just say that.
