Did Jake Adams seriously think...?

During the wedding scene, Ally confesses to Jake that she lost her virginity before she slept with him. His response is "Okay, so you've slept with TWO men in your life." They broke up not long after prom, if I recall correctly, so Ally was maybe 18/19. Did Jake SERIOUSLY think that an unmarried woman in her early 30's hadn't had a single sexual encounter in that all time??? That is a WHOLE different level of delusion...!!

Am I understanding that scene incorrectly, or was Jake really that much of an idiot?

Did Jake? I don't know. I can't speak for him.

But I think a lot of men want a girl who hasn't "been around the block".
