Why I think Drive failed...

It's a show called Drive, about an illegal cross country race. The previews showed mostly people being involved in high speed pursuits. The focus on the show: People.

I'm a car guy, I think that in the beginning that the show drew gearheads like me, and after seeing the first episode, stopped watching because cars were barely even mentioned. I wasn't looking for another '24,' I wanted something that was like a Miami Vice/Nash Bridges/Magnum PI/Dukes Of Hazard Car Chase for around half an hour.

They focused on people, driving horribly, except the guy with the Trans Am and the Lowrider, though those cars were still pushed into the background. Now if the mom stole her husband's Porsche, sticking a baby seat in the back, it would have made better TV.

Next time somebody tries and does a show about a cross-country race, make sure you focus on the cars as much as the people.

"um....no" the reson is that peolpe are stuiped and would rather see a stupied show like deal or no deal. Or watch Celibertys Dance like freeking idiots on Dancing with the Stars. Then watch a GOOD SHOW that has action, drama, cars, racing, and Nathan Fillion. Also i think Fox has a Vendetta with Nathan Fillion.

i know the truth sucks but it the truth is never pretty and nice
also FOx is full of dumbass's

Hahahaha... I agree with ozzie on this one. I rarely post anything on here. I mainly just watch people get into pointless arguments over even more pointless topics, but, honestly... If you're going to attempt to have even a semi-intelligent conversation on here, use spellcheck. If not for those reading your comments, then for yourself, because, personally, I'd be embarrassed if I were you.

Now, to the matter at hand.

I'm pretty sure that the show failed for 1 of 2 reasons.

1, They barely advertised the show. Nowaways, if you want a show to last, you have to shove it down the public's throat... We're a generation of people with a very short attention span (ironically, due to television and the internet). Sadly, most of us need to hear the same information at least a dozen times in order for it to sink in (like, when the show was going to air)

2, The only advertising that I even remember, was the same teaser type trailer over and over. They never seemed to sneak in more information on what the concept of the show was, so, what they DID show didn't intrigue me very much at all. All I know knew was that for some reason a bunch of seemingly unrelated individuals had to get somewhere in a certain amount of time, or else something bad was going to happen... Personally, I needed more.

Obviously I'm just speaking for myself here.

If your attention span managed to allow you to read this in its entirety, then maybe all isn't lost after all.

I think it failed because it was advertised as another Amazing Race.
Reality TV except not reality. Sounds lame until you actually watch the show and realize how good it is.

To be honest I wasn't planning on watching it until I saw that Nathan Fillion was in the cast. ^^

Help us SAVE the show TRAVELER.

I think Fox actually did quite a bit of advertising for the show. There were a lot of commercials for it back before it premiered. It was a decent show, my reason for why it failed was largely on Fox's strategy for premiering the show. The first 3 episodes were shown over 2 nights. That's asking a lot of time to commit to a show for the average viewer. Fox does something similar when 24 premieres each year, but 24 has a loyal audience that will devote that kind of time to it. So doing the same for a new, unproven show like "Drive" was a mistake. They should have just premiered it like any other show, with the pilot on Monday at 8, and ensuing episodes to follow week after week in the same slot.

My feeling, personally, was that the show didn't really have legs. By the time Fox pulled it, I was already getting a little bored with many of the characters.

It went off the air because they care too damn much about the bastards that track the Nielson ratings. See, they don't give a crap if anyone likes it....they just care about the ratngs. Too many good shows have bit the dust...and if Nathan Fillion stars in it....it'll bite the dust. He'll be on Desperate Housewives this season..I'm predicting a downfall to the show. He's not bad, he's just bad luck towards t.v. shows.

Reading that 4 years later makes it kinda ironic ^^
