Its such a great series. The photography is stunning! Beautiful, and following a cheetah at 60mph and keeping it in frame and in focus is amazing. Far as I can tell 2009 was the last year they made this show. I hope they go back one of these years.

I wish Animal Planet would show more programs like this one. I am so sick of so much of their current prime-time programming that has nothing to do with animals! Such as "Treehouse Masters" or "Insane Pools"... doesn't that stuff belong on the DIY or HGTV channel? Sheesh. And the real animal shows like this one only get shown in the wee hours of the night. I must be missing something

Really? Treehouse Masters"? "Insane Pools"? It's sounds like Animal Planet's gotten even worse since I stopped watching it in 2012. I loved shows like Big Cat Diary, and Meerkat Manor, and I think they should do more shows similar to them. When I stopped watching AP, half of their shows were about pit bulls (Pit Boss, Pit Bulls and Parolees, etc.), and what shows weren't about pit bulls had to have at least one episode on why pit bulls won't tear you apart (almost propaganda-like if you ask me), I wish that Big Cat Diary comes back. Is River Monsters still on AP? That was a good one too.

I would add Orangutan Island and Chimp Eden. I loved those as much as Big Cat Diary.
In fact, I'm watch these shows from 5 to 7 am each weekday, and record them just in case I oversleep. But as you can expect, I've seen each episode about 20 times.
As for their other programming, it looks like Animal Planet has fallen into the "reality show" trap like almost every other network ever. Their cheap production must mean easy profits. God I can't wait for this ridiculous fad to end and return to real, educational programming.

Its an incredible show and the cats are great stars of the series. It seems like 2009 is the most recent but since they had several multi-year breaks in between the 1996,1998,2005,2009 series. Hopefully this leaves is with the ability for a new series of it being produced now. Love this show along with escape to chimp eden and orangutan islands and i hope some new episodes come out soon. There was a new chimp special a few weeks ago called Charles and jessica bring transitioned to chimp eden.
Animal Planet went to hell in a hand basket after Steve Irwin died.
