Dad wasn't so bad, was he?

The Nick Nolte character may have had, shall we say, "shady" financial dealings, but he seemed to take a genuine interest in his son and apparently wished to offer him both aid and support. Yet his son walks out on him at the close with the assurance that he never saw him again. Did this strike anyone else as being a bit harsh and sanctimonious on the son's part?

ummm ... if your dad had your boyfriend killed in front of you, you might swear him off too.
