Great acting from Elijah was its best feature

I haven't seen it yet, but I notice that the reviews and comments from people who have seen it in general say that Elijah was the stand out in acting terms and that
the the 3 main cast carry the film. I think Elijah is a v talented actor and so I am fascinated to see one of his best performances.

He was terrible, in fact I started a thread about it a few hours before you posted this one lol.

yes, that's an opinion of one person. You get all sorts of weird opinions on imdb and they're very often exaggerated and based on nothing but a desire to annoy - "it sux"; "he was terrible"; "worst film ever" etc etc - I never take any notice of that sort of stuff. The professional reviewers and a large number of user comments here and elsewhere totally disagree with that poster and that is far more important. Maybe that person doesn't appreciate good acting - that seems to be the problem.

I am really looking forward to this and the more I see of it (screen caps wandering round the internet as well as the trailer) and hear about it from various people the more it sounds intriguing, esp as regards Elijah's performance. That is the main draw for me since it has been praised so much, but I am interested in the film in general too because it sounds as though it has so much emotional depth.

Firstly, you see the button in the top right corner? That's the reply button. When you want to reply to a post, you click on that.

Secondly, the person I was referring to was me. I don't know if you're retarded or something or if English is your second language and you were taught it well in some aspects and not at all in others, but that's not exactly a correct response to what I said.

Now to address what you said - do you know what else you get on IMDB? People who get these silly little ideas about a film inside their head before watching and then try and refute the opinions of others, you know, people who have actually seen it. Bingo! I'm talking about you. This film has a bad rating, and, oh yeah, it hasn't even managed to secure a proper realease despite a host of big names participating. Also, having looked through this films board, there are no other threads which praise Wood's acting, or any of the other main characters, for that matter. You'd generally just be brushed off as a troll but i'll give you a chance. Your post history reveals you are clearly obsessed to an appearingly unhealthy level with Elijah Wood, and naturally as a nutjob, you'll want to defend his acting in any project, no matter how dire. However, as you have not seen the film, and I have, your opinion holds no weight against mine. You can falsify references to public opinion but the rating speaks for itself, and your implication that the content of my thread was anything like that which you mentioned only leads me to believe you didn't even read it, and thus wish to make yourself appear even more ignorant.

Yeah - sarcasm and resorting to personal insults rather than debating is the natural resort of trolls. In terms of replies - maybe that poster should try replying as opposed to ranting. I am quoting the evidence of people who have seen the film - the professional critics and the user comments here and elswhere. That poster should have a go at this question. The professional critics and those comments are virtually unanimous that his performance was excellent. Precisely why
shoud one person's opinion have more (or any) credibility than that majority opinion, inlcuding the opinion of experts?

That poster appears to be a troll so obviously will be unable to answer that. If it is not a troll then answer it. If he/it can't then maybe he/it should disappear and post on the board of less demanding films.

"there are no other threads which praise Wood's acting". That statement is as factually incorrect as virtually everything else that person said - you don't have to look very far; just have a look at the "great film" thread, for example.

Also look at the user reviews - I just took an extract from the first one so again - not exactly hard to find the evidence:

"But Elijah Wood stood out for me and this has nothing to do with me being a fan. Elijah proved once again how talented he really is. His portrayal of Aaron is heartbreaking, funny and convincing. It's fascinating to see him take his character to a very dark place. It just seems so easy for him."

The rating was around 9.1 - it is now 6.9. For imdb that is pretty decent. It has been brought down by right-wingers voting 1, not on quality, but because they wrongly perceive it as anti-war (see comments on here as evidence).

This was what Marc Kandel, efilmcritic.com said:

"The performances are excellent. Characters wade in tension and fear, even Dixon, who accepts his lot but in his most private moments stares into the darkness wide eyed with apprehension at the fighting and dying to come. Ginnifer Goodwin is a standout amongst the supporting cast, a survivor who must watch her husband’s struggle with the draft, a death sentence of sorts not unlike the cancer he has seen her through. Elijah Wood puts in a career best here- simultaneously hilarious and disturbing."

Those sentiments are echoed in other reviews and in the user reviews on here - ie that the great acting carries the film. I am fan of Elijah's but I'm also v selective about films; I don't get enthusiastic about them all that often. Luckily being an Elijah fan means that when you go to the theatre or buy a DVD you're not disappointed. That is why I am looking forward to seeing it so much.

The three of them were very good in the movie
Elijah Wood has the lead role in this movie, and his performance is excellent, one of the best of his career. I agree with Marc Kendel in everything he says.

THE 4th SEASON IS COMING... 4 8 15 16 23 42
