There is currently no military draft. Therefore, all are volunteers, idiot.
You are right it is an honor to serve you country. However it is not honorable to die for something you do not believe in.
Dont give me that freedom speech, because this is america, we have choices. That is what makes this country great, thinking from all sides. If everyone thought the same way, we would of never left square one.
The sad thing is the heroes, you talk about will be forgotten, and only remembered, in the memory of a pointless war.

I don't think it's fair to say that everyone member of the U.S. military now in Iraq volunteered. Just cause you signed up for service in the military doesn't mean you thought you were going to have to fight a war. For some the military is simply a life opportunity or a cheap way to get an education.
And it may be an honor for some to serve in a military, but not everyone values patriotism as much as you do. It's narrow minded of you to look down on others because they have different values than you. Good for you if you would feel so honored, but not everyone needs to be just like you.

Every single person who is in Iraq now, either voluteerd after the war started, or voluntarily signed for an extra term after the war started, so they are all there voluntarily.
besides, if you sign up for military service, you have a chance of actually having to go and do the job you signed up for.
As a side note, I do recall the immense ammount of lies and exaggeration I poured out when I went up for draft (in '95 here) ADD, asthma, no friends, afraid of the dark/small spaces/large spaces/people/loneliness, problems with authority, lazy, slow, dumb, hard of hearing, night blind, concientious objector, devout christian, etc etc etc
I don't see why they didn't just do that? Just make sure no sane army would want you and you're done right?
