Hey MM fan friends

Hey you all...it's been a while since I last came on here...I won't be able to come on everyday but will try to be on more but this winter I am enlisting in the Army and won't be on for at least 9 weeks (Basics). During that time I won't have access to a computer at all. How has everyone else been doing?

Hey RattiesRules!

It's great to hear from you! I've been checking here on MM and trying to answer the ocassional question. I've sort of figured out the 'Friends of the Kalahari' website. I recognize Zaphod's code and can guesstimate the daughters of Flower by their codes, but I do not have names to go with those codes.

Zaphod's coming up on his 12th birthday this December!!!

Well, I hope your Basic Training goes well! Do you know where your training will be? Are you going to be a reservist or is this full time?

Good luck with everything!
Chris J.

http://friends.kalahari-meerkats.com/index.php?id=meerkat_names go there and on the right hand side menu, there are links, those are public namelists that can tell you who is what code, some are unnamed...and Tim Clutton-Brock's book "Meerkat Manor: Flower of the Kalahari" has a lot of Whiskers' ID codes along with their names...I will try to comprise a list over the next few weeks...

Zaphod is an amazing lil man...He has lived an interesting life and hopefully continues to live for more years...:) He is well on his way to be the oldest oberseved meerkat in the whole project...Mabili Drie Doring holds that title for now, and she made it to almost 13 years...

Thanks, I don't know where I will be sent but Fort Jackson does most women get sent to Fort Jackson in South Carolina so it will probably be there...I am going into it full time (active duty) as that has better benefits than reserves..I hope it goes well myself, I am thin but in training and getting ready for Basics and the PT test, I have realized that I am out of shape...lol...but getting back into shape...:) I will probably enlist for 2 years and then re-enlist after that...I haven't fully decided what field I am going into I am waiting until I get the results from my ASVAB test (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) before I completely decide.

I completely forgot about the book having some of the codes & names! I will also check out the link you posted.

Yea, I am rooting for ol' Zaphod, however, I do worry that I may jinx him!

Sounds like you have a good plan laid out. I can imagine military training is tough even for the best in shape. I hope you do well. South Carolina in the fall has got to be better than some US bases during the summer, so you should have better weather there.

Well, I will miss your posts, but imagine I'll still be keeping an eye here on the MM forum when you get back.

Good luck!
