Zaphod, who has beaten out Mabili's record to become the oldest surviving meerkat in the project has died...Here is the link to the topic on Animal Planet's forum about it...It was announced by Pronker (one of the people who works on the Friends of the kalahari meerkat site)

Yes he was old, but for some reason I guess I thought he'd live for ever! As quite possibly the last recognized meerkat from "Meerkat Manor", he will be sorely missed!
Will/did they bury him as they did Flower? Was he 11 or 12?

He was a few months over 12 years old..and earned the title of being the oldest surviving meerkat on the project in Feb...it was also discovered that Phoenix wasn't his father but Stinker (Sondeim)...
Now I think the only ones from MM left are Cruise and Monkulus (Maybelline)

I did not realize Monkulus was still around! I guess it would be to much to expect KMP to bury him next to Flower, right?

I think something was mentioned about them burying him but we dont know if they are going to cremate the body first or not...they have something special planned to pay respects to the King of the Kalahari...
sharebesides him flower were my fav, he will always be remenbered.. i have only just started watching meerkat manor and im up to season 4, i was woundering if there are any more season being made or is it cancelled. i have looked but cant find out thanks ty-bud
shareUnfortunately, the series has been cancelled. They pulled the film crew out after the fourth season. There was an international landslide revolt by millions of fans of the show due to Flower's death. The producer's changed the format of the show for the fouth season, but the fans stayed angry! The last official notice from Animal Planet was they 'were going to take a break to come up with new ideas for the show'...that was 3 years ago!

shareThey actually had to stop filming Season 4 early because they wanted to give Rocket Dog some time to recuperate from her snake bite but then she was hit by a car...now, the film crews haven't been out there for soo long that only a handful of the meerkats that have seen the cameramen are still around...The only two left in the Whiskers group that have seen the cameras are Ella and Thundercat...the rest were born after the show ended....
