Flower + Mozart's baby girls dominate the Kalahari

According to the "Friends of the Kalahari Meerkat Project" website there are "5" Dominant females that are either Flower's or Mozart's babies. These 5 girls appear as a code, which I do not know how to interpret other than reconize them as Whisker's females, but I do know the codes number is low enough to be either Flower's or Mozart's.

The total number of groups that KMP tracks is 16, so Flower's female decendent's are dominating almost a third of these groups!!!

That is a really interesting finding. Flower seemed to have passed her good genes to her descendants. But I'd also think that this is bad since mainly the dominant females give birth so the gene pool of the meerkats on the Kalahari isn't going to be so diverse.

That's a good point. I do remember one episode (the tale of len and squiggy???) where one of Flower's babies had a deformed leg. (At the end of the episode the Whisker's mob left the baby alone in the desert to die.)

I've thought the dominant females seem to know who to mate with to avoid problems, perhaps its a scent the the males produce. For example, when there is a split between two factions of the Whiskers and several weeks go by they come across each other and prepare to go to war. They get closer and closer, it looks like its going to be a fierce battle and suddenly they are rubbing against each other, everyone's happy. Each mob(meerkat group) must put off a unique scent to tell each other who's who.

BTW not all birth defects are of result of inbreeding.

Dominant Females Monkulus (VWF063), Cruise (VWF075), Billy (VWF093), and Ella (VWF095)are daughters of Flowers...Monkulus was called Maybelline on MM and is DF of the Aztecs, Cruise is the DF of the Baobabs, Billy is the DF of the Van Helsings, and Ella is the DF of the Whiskers.

Dominant Female Miss Lilly the Pink (VWF106) is Mozart's daughter and she is DF of the Toyotas.

I must point out that Flower's son, Ningaloo (VWM085) is also still Dominant Male of the Kung Fus. and her grandson, Rufus (the son of one of her daughters but it's unknown which one since 3 females gave birth at the time he was born) is Dominant Male of the Lazulis.
