I dont like to compare others to such a great anime that is E7. But as far as drawing style goes id say its closest anime would be Full metal alchemist-but thats becuase its the same creators...
Well Mondieu21, Ive been watching anime since, Astro Boy and Samurai Pizza cats. Yes im old. Aside from that I must let you know that every anime is different even the coming of age ones. If you like coming of age tails more power to you. But let me start you on a road less likely to lead to you hating anime in general. Try watching FLCL, once your done with that move on to Tokyo Godfathers. I know your picky but if I just posted every coming of age story on here I would probably need another few hundred posts. Eureka seven has very little character development, trust me I've seen the best. Of course I have to mention you see Cowboy Bebop, a must see with very deep character development and a tragic love affair. My best advice to you is to try catching coming of age OVA's , like Howls moving castle, Princess Mononoke, etc. The movies have better Character dev then the typical 26+ episode anime. And of course better Animation style. Oh and if you happen to watch Evangelion(another famous coming of age anime) please keep in mind that it came out in 1994(manga form). And that the creator was dabbling with the human mind. Freudian topics, and Psyche are heavy influences. Kinda made it more of a psycho-drama than an action anime.
If a man can sell garbage for money, ANYTHING is possible.
eureka 7 has the most amount of character growth i've seen in any anime. older or not, saying that eureka 7 has very little is straight up absurd. the character development is very...well, the characters change gradually, and don't become different people altogether. this show has more love and respect for its characters than any of the ones i've ever seen. and i've seen quiet a few. not as many as movies (not by a long shot), still i found these characters a lot more engaging and realistic than evangelion or even gray charcoal wings society. and that anime was all about finding out about oneself and forgiving oneself. still, eureka characters rang more true and were a lot stronger, not as characters, but as people. you admire holland, then you dislike him, then you hate him, then you admire and respect him.
Apollo was an awesome character. I havent seen emotion like that since Heero Yuy from Gundam W. I dont mind Last Exile but Claus seems very bewildered in every episode I saw. It was like they tried to write emotion for him, but ended up with a kid that uses the word "huh?" more than Raiden in MGS games.
Both are adventure/action/fantasy animes about young boys growing up, and wanting to protect the women they love. Throughout their journeys, they find themselves in positions where they must protect humanity as well. Gurren-Lagann has better characters/character development. And it's also way more epic, so I definitely recommend that first. I hope this helps. I HIGHLY recommend them. They're guarenteed to satisfy exactly what you're looking for.
eureka seven was made by bones, who also made fullmetal alchemist, soul eater, and wolves rain, but they were made by different teams in Bones. the same team who made eureka seven is making a show called Xam'd lost memories. it has 16 out of 26 episodes right now, and it is really cool. the animation looks almost exactly like eureka seven.
agreed, soul eater is a solid bet. however I have only two shows that rank in the OMG-that-was-mind-blowing-in-every-aspect(drool) section, Eureka 7, and Avatar. But, if someone hasn't seen avatar yet, there is something very wrong with you.
wha? fail ending? i thought it wrapped up everything nicely
-spoiler- (you do know that after the credits on the last episode it fades to a final shot of renton, eureka, gramps and the kids walking into the sunset??)
