Saw his slide-show and film "What is it?" last night. He was taking questions after and some girl asked whether he enjoyed making "Wizard of Gore" as it seemed like a character he could really tap into.
Glover said he didn't really feel emotionally involved, but that doing this movie helped finance personal projects. Says he's seen the bits he's done and was happy with them, but still hasn't watched the movie.
yeah when i saw him do the slide show and show what is it someone asked him about his film choices and he said that he basically picks things that are semi-high profile and that have a good paycheck attached so that he can go out and do the projects that he wants to do.
Frankly, Crispin Glover seems like an a**hole to me. It's like he thinks he's this amazing actor and his projects are so diverse, yet half of them he hasn't even seen (like The Wizard Of Gore) or films that are good (like Friday The 13th:The Final Chapter), he refuses to talk about. It's fine and dandy if you want to take on movies to pay the bills or finance your own work, understandable. But something about this guy just really annoys me. Yes, he can be good, but for the most part I find him annoying and conceited.
Right, and The Wizard Of Gore is considered good? Friday The 13th:The Final Chapter is one of the best, if not most successful, films in the series. So to me, it counts as a "good" film, actually an "excellent" film in a very entertaining horror series.
If you want to talk about the demise of cinema, there are many, many other films out there that can be attributed to that, and most of them are big-budget studio films with undertalented and overpaid stars.
I suppose you consider Blades Of Glory a good movie, right? *rolls eyes*
I enjoyed its audacity, similar to the original. It has no great message to it, except how we fool ourselves about who we are and who others are. It was an interesting effort by a reasonably solid director. I thought "Attic Expeditions" was good as well. These kinds of films are simple genre efforts, and aren't necessarily supposed to be held-up to the standards of "high art." Regardless of Glover's opinions on how he felt about the film, I think he's a very professional actor who gives over 100%, which speaks well of him. He's always a joy to watch, always fascinating.
dude, lets face it, you can argue all you want, but Im thinking you're gonna be pretty well alone in the "pro-any of the friday the 13 sequels" on THESE boards.
.....he's not missing much. I just finished watching it after months of anticipation and it was a major let-down. Very confusing plot twists, and with the exception of Crispin, lousy performances.
Well I for one enjoyed The Wizard of Gore, both 1970 and 2007, and I also love Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter. And Blades of Glory wasn't bad either.
Crispin Glover is one of my favourite actors...I mean, did you see him in Willard?
