No. 2 sneezing? (spoilers)

In the movie, No. 2 wants to expel the Captain and No. 3 (the female lead who eventually becomes the Captain's love interest) into the outside world so they don't interfere with the mission, he says that his nose tickles to sort of hint at them what he's going to do (complete with big sniffs and nose scrunching), then he presses a button to make the ship sneeze them out.

However, at other points in the movie, the ship replicates what the Captain (and No. 2 when he takes over) do. For example, when the ship (No. 2 in control) is holding the orb that will drain the oceans in his hand, No. 2 is seen inside doing the exact same action despite holding nothing in his own hand! Also, the ship says whatever the person speaking into the speaker says.

So, I thought...wouldn't it make sense if No. 2 actually had to sneeze himself to make the ship sneeze?
