TrippinZiggy, you`re right :) I think the only Gael’s film there is he happy and relaxing is "Soy tu fan". Unfortunately that movie was too short :). But I hope in the beginning we can see happy Rímini, especially with the baby, I think it will be very touchy.

Having seen some photos of Rudi Y Cursi that could be a little more "light hearted" than previous films.
shareYeah, the plot synopsis says that Rimini finds it easy to move on, but from the looks of the trailer, he doesn't find it very easy. I'm afraid it will be sad, but Gael's talent makes that rather beside the point.
I have a feeling this is one of those films that could be insufferable (a la The English Patient) if not for the actors, and Gael makes any film better. He never overacts, which would be the kiss of death for a film like this.

Without offering specific details, I must admit that the theme was depressing and the main character came across as hapless, devoid of any sense of person, purpose or motivation. He is carried along by the other people in his life. I could not sympathize with him and was very frustrated with the pathetic manor in which he lived his life. He let life roll all over him.
If this is the mood the director was hoping to convey - he did a very good job.
I agree, suziqp. Despite my frustrations with the main character, Rimini... Gael Garcia Bernal's portrayal was brilliant.
btw, I knew nothing about Bernal before this movie and when I googled him, I was surprised to find out he was in Babel. Ahhhhh, now I remember him. Wow!!!! share
