DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE

I watched it unfortunately, it has no story, no suspension or twist or ANYTHING.
It's just a dumb chick with annoying voice that goes around cities and kill ppl. Wow it's so bad. DO NOT WATCH IT!!

reply

Disagree. There was a story. There was suspense.

I Just saw this movie. Very entertaining. Not perfect, but pretty good.

reply

Actually , i disagree. It seemed like they were just trying to make your typical moral conundrum drama. It just so happened that they were on a very limited budget. Hollywood puts this tripe out every year , this just has an " indie" wrapper. Why can't independent film makers come up with realistic conversations , real life action sequences , plots that make sense and characters without the moral hang-ups that hollywood insists "real" people must have when dealing with such awkward subject matter. Seriously , if you had three months to live and were given a get out of jail free card for exacting revenge on morally corrupt , degenerate sociopaths who rape small children ,Self involved elitists who murder entire families to save their own hides and pedophile priest who use the church as a glass shield .......would you really have any problems delivering justice unto them. Sure , Hollywood says you should. But would you really ? Therefore , a flawed movie .

reply

It was awful.

reply

No it wasn't awful. Gosh, it's so annoying I hear more about people hating movies than I do people who like them. Compared with TONS of movies, this could be oscar-caliber.

reply

Everything you think was missing from the film I think it had in spades. This was a brilliant piece of movie-making - especially on such a low budget. The point wasn't about exacting revenge on anyone who was morally corrupt. She deliberately went after people who had harmed children - almost all of whom had served time. The moral conscience comes in when she realises that she could be, unbeknownst to her, harming families in a similar way to which she was as a child. Everything in this film was so understated that I can understand while people didn't like it, but if you look past the surface, you really are in for something remarkable.

reply

I disagree also. It started slow, but it picked up well. I loved the music in the film.

Telling someone not to see a film and not being able to articulate the various reasons is not helpful. I will attempt to illustrate why I was disappointed.

While there was an interesting storyline, there was hardly any suspense and the film was poorly executed by the director and actors. Most of the characters lacked any real depth or arc. Much of the criticism could be placed squarely on the shoulders of the lead actress. This was a great deal of responsibility for any novice--to carry an entire film, learn the technical aspects of acting, and perform stunts. Unfortunately, she was not able to do justice to this character or find her center. Her portrayal was uneven and her delivery fluctuated from privileged ice queen to guilt-ridden victim to right-wing extremist and none quite hit their mark. I found Anna to be hypocritical, almost completely unsympathetic, her dialogue stilted, and her overall demeanor condescending. The actress was not able to give her fellow actors anything to work with and her dissonant rhythm often made her partners stumble as well. She seemed like she was acting in a primetime teen soap/drama on a basic cable channel and not in a feature film. In the DVD featurette, besides being absolutely beautiful, Kristen Blackport was open, personable, and ebullient. If only she had injected some of these qualities into Anna, we would have had a more complex and engaging character.

The movie is not without some redeeming value. The technical aspects of the film were of high caliber for an independent film. The photography and cinematography was a clear standout. Beautiful high-def 16:9 wide shots and an adept use of light, both natural and ambient. The aerial shot of Chicago at night reminded me how my hometown's skyline rivals any other major city, more organic than New York and more accessible than Paris.

Totally agree... horrible movie... I rented it and assumed from the box there was a 50/50 chance it would stink to high heaven... Well its a stinker... If you see it late night and have to pick between this movie and watching an infomercial... pick the infomercial - it will have better production values and be more entertaining.

Oh! Shut the *beep* up!

Yes, Master haunting752!

reply

You forgot to mention that the acting is awful. How do no talents get into these films?

reply

Of course, not everyone has to like the same things, but I thought this was a lot better than many much higher profile films.

reply

No story??? She goes around doing what everyone wants to do. I wont give it all away but if I was dieing and had no family really and could make a difference who's to say I might not have done the same thing. This country has murders of whom get life, but a child molester gets set free after a few short years. That IS injustice and I applaud ho made this movie. Like I said I don't know if I would do it or not but if this was a true story I would have done what the detective at the end did.

And where does this all stop? Do we execute people for parking tickets and overdue library books? Yes the legal system has flaws as do the creators of it, US. We all make mistakes. Sometimes those mistakes hurt other people. If we stand trial, are acquitted or found guilty, we have surrendered ourselves to the only system that protects us against complete anarchy, the survival of the fittest.

Do we really want to live in a world where the guy with the biggest guns or the biggest balls is the only one who gets to live?

What the "heroine" of this movie does is decide that she is the supreme authority and gets to decide who lives or dies. She claims to have the high moral ground but does she really? We all know that the victims were "scum", but what if Anna makes a mistake? Suppose she did blow away the lawyer in the hotel. She would have killed an innocent man who had a family. Yes, he helped people work the system. He was doing his job as his oath requires. If we had no defense attorneys then think of the consequences to people who just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Innocent people DO get arrested.

I believe that we have to allow the system to function and provide all the support that we can to make it better. We don't need vigilantes on the street with 9mm automatics trying to make the world a better place.

It's natural to feel hatred and anger against someone who wrongs us. But it is another matter altogether to decide to murder another human being in cold blood.

From a "strictly entertainment" point of view, the film left a lot to be desired.

Another thread on this board applauded the filmmakers' ability to make a movie of this level of production value for less than a million, and they are absolutely right.

But that achievment, sadly, is not enough to carry this film for the average viewer.

When a small indie movie like this one doesn't have much to work with in terms of spectacle (ie.: special effects, costly action sequences, etc.), then the story and the acting have to be superlative in order to carry the film.

There are some things I definitely took away from the movie, but there are also many aspects that I could have done without.

For instance, her personal / professional life (the one that she maintained when she wasn't killing) held absolutely no interest for me whatsoever. Upon learning that she had been adopted and taken in by this philanthropic businessman, I thought they were going to eventually reveal a really interesting twist that would explain why she is the way she is.

But they didn't. And that was a let down.

And you must be an "Average" viewer/

The movie was arlight music was awsome

Also you could see that she wasn't going to kill the lawyer dude when he said he had a family.

Great music too.

Just saw this movie tonight and I must say it's one of the best movies I've seen in a long, long time.
The storyline was excellent, the characters well placed, the directing and editing were well paced as was the action. Very well done !
I read that this is supposed to be the first part of a trilogy. Well it's now 2010 and I haven't seen any indication of parts two or three. Please, please, don't give up on this, I for one thoroughly enjoyed it and would like to see the conclusion of this well thought out story.
If anyone out there knows anything about the remaining parts, please let me know. Thank you.
Again, Bravo......well done.
