where were the "newport" scenes at the mansion shot?

It was shot in Rhode Island. I know when they had the premier there a few months ago Claire Danes remarked it was where her parents had met.

An estate named The Ledges in Newport. It is a private home.

Darn it! My fiance and I were just engaged and looking into places to get married. I immediately thought of the film evening and this house.

I was so hoping it was an inn or something that could be rented out, not a personal home. It is exactly the type of place I was looking for to get married.

Does anyone reading this post have any recommendations for someplace similar?

Ocean Drive in Newport.. one of the most beautiful drives on the east coast in the fall, if you ask me.
