Well, you see, some people -- a lot of them critics, but a good many plain old audience members -- saw things in the film you didn't and have said so. It only looks like exaggeration from where you sit. That's all right, but you really shouldn't find a difference of opinion so shocking.
Yes, you are a homophobe, and nobody says you can't be. But you really don't seem to have ever kissed someone passionately, or you wouldn't so misread the one you saw. That's OK, too. Some day when your prince comes...
You misread EP, too, but hey, no accounting for tastes or people's varying ability to understand movies.

Yes, I assumed you were male. It's a joke. Don't you know that some people say all homophobes are closeted homosexuals? Especially those who declare their homophobia when nobody has asked them? I just thought I'd play on that.
As I said, it's a joke. In fact, it's the sort of joke that both DC and VM appear to enjoy, to judge from some of their interviews. Deadpan and faintly outrageous to those who don't share that kind of sense of humor.
Example: DC's story of having to demonstrate with his wife how to do the sex-on-the-stairs scene in AHOV. Some people believed it.
OTOH, my male (and female, for that matter) relatives kiss one another on the mouth, though not with passion, since they are one and all -- so far as I know -- heterosexual. But they do it with enthusiasm.

A History of Violence is a much better film IMO.
So you're saying that a movie that's 6/10 is a bad movie? If you said 3 or 4 it would make a lot more sense.

I agree that a 7.8 is too high but a 6 is too low. I'd give it a 7, because I thought Naomi Watts' character kind of dragged the film down. It would've been better if they focused more on the mafia side.
