Why isn't Viggo a bigger star?(Eastern Promises)

I've seen several of his movies and he's a helluva an actor. Just watch is scenes in Carlito's Way w/ Pacino.
Does he not want to be a big actor?
Seems lately he's been taking shyt movies.

Watching this movie for a second time and it's a terrific movie and he's terific in it.

I don't think mega stardom interests him at all. He chooses films that interest him, not for the huge paycheck

I agree. He's the real thing.

BUT I think he takes movies that are interesting to act in. Which makes sense.

I remember Russell Crowe saying quite bluntly that he was in a lot of Ridley Scott movies because he enjoys the working environment so much... even though he knows the -movie- isn't necessarily going to be some kind of 'masterpiece'.

De Niro has said the same thing like: 'not every movie is for the ages. sometimes its for the paycheck. sometimes its for friendship. sometimes its just for fun.'

We tend to -wish- that every movie was made with the highest expectations, but hey, it's just a job.

I have a feeling that he doesn't suffer fools gladly. That doesn't really fly in that kind of business. Plus he is handsome enough to get away with that kind of attitude. Soon as he ages, he'll be buried.

Viggo pretty much takes whatever movie interests him. I'm sure he's living just fine off his Lord of the Rings paycheck, so he's not worried about being a superstar.

He just likes to act.

Can't stop the signal.

He's not a huge actor because he chooses not to be

Which are the Viggo's sh** movies you´re talking about?! Have you seen anyone?! Or you just don't watch non commercial movies, non hollywood blockbusters?!
I have seen all of Viggo's movies past Lord of the rings, except for Far from men (i can't find it anywhere), and non of them nearly dissapointed me. And, of course, he has always on the top. Deserves so many nominationes on awards (and winnings!), but I guess he just doesn't mind about that: has his family, his poetry, his music, his publishing house, his football team here in Argentina (classic rival of mine) and, most of all, he has a life. Out of the parafernalia, out of the neon lights. That's why I love him twice.
