Fried chicken and watermelon

I know Katusji said that since he elevated the dish, that the stereotype was eliminated. I still think it was a bad idea. If any one of those judges were offended, I'm sure they would use that to eliminate him.

How did you guys react throughout the episode?

I just tried to stay detached because it was sorta ridiculous Padma and Tom trying to impart "soul" overnight in chefs that couldn't or don't have a clue!  

I thought it was a great choice if he was confident in his execution, which he obviously was. And everyone loved it.

i didn't mind Katsuji's choice. It was done sincerely for the love of the food and I don't think he knew it was stereotypical. But like one of the guests said, it's popular because it's delicious.

My concern was Katsuji keeping the ingredients simple and not adding everything and the kitchen sink to the dish. I was really worried when he commented after his critique; I thought he might ruin it with a stupid comment, but he did good.

I'm as white as white can be and I love fried chicken and watermelon. It's a stereotype that needs to go away and be forgotten.

Whatever that cliché, it's one hell of a delicious one!

They only say it is cliche because it's based of fact. It's a wonderful combination to many people's palates.

I thought it was flippin' hilarious. It only would've been topped if he'd done a creative take on grape soda.
