This game was amazing and yet failed

The story mode was impressive. The fighting was great. The create-a-character was ok - though I wish you could do things like change the colour paletts, especially of the specials (I wanted to make Spawn, but needed green lightning). Most of the new arenas were great and most of the characters were fun.

What failed? The jump from Deception to Armageddon. The Character bios were never finished, but it was already too late.

It seemed they did not care to fill us in on the story. How did all these dead characters come back - especially Onaga.

Deadly Alliance went into Deception very well, despite having the story take place long before DA.

Armageddon should have been the same thing - but they just forced it.

I especially did not like the endings, which were all horrible. If this was to be the last game, it should have had a definitive ending.

The next MK will be great, no doubt. But I still feel ripped off on the story.

Deception wasn't long before DA. It was actually right after DA.

Armageddon was kind of like MKTrilogy. Just adding in all of the characters. The whole war thing wasn't a bad attempt though.

I meant the story of Deception took place before DA - indeed, before even the 1st MK tournament. I'm referring to Shujinko's story.

The only way in which this game failed was in Konquest mode, which I still haven't finished.I'm stuck in Shao Kahn's Fortress and need to find a shortcut into Shao Kahn's Dungeon. Can anybody help?Arcade mode is incredibly easy to beat, and I do agree that there are a lot of endings that I don't like.

Yeah, I was really looking forward to this game before it was released. I got the game shortly after it came out, however my PS2 died on me shortly there after and it took me quite a while to get a new one. So I never got to finish it the first time around.

I just recently got back into the game and yeah, it certainly wasn't as good as I had hoped. The endings are for the most part dumb and if this game was suppose to be the end of the current MK storyline why are there so many contradictive endings?
I thought the konquest mode on MKA was better than MKD and MKDA.

There were so many ways they could've done to fill up the story and come up with a good conclusion. I really liked how the Deadly Alliance storyline went, and how it followed early on in Deception. What threw me off though, was that in Deception, there were all these characters like Kobra, Dairou, and Darrius to name a few. They had one-dimensional personalities.

Those guys, and characters similiar to those guys, just didn't really carry the story, nor add interest to it. Also, there are incomplete stories like with Scorpion, his story in DA was good, then it was lop-sided in Deception, and his story now in Armageddon pretty much lead him to nowhere. So he did reclaim his clan, but where does he go from there? Go on an endless hunt for Quan Chi? He's been doing that since Mortal Kombat 4, he should've killed him already by now if this chapter of MK is ending.

Same with Sub-Zero, in his final ending on Armageddon he was deemed a false god, then the elder gods sent their champions to go and destroy him. That's a pretty stupid way to conclude his story for this chapter.

They should've had the fighter's endings where they finally achieve what they've been waiting to achieve for a long time. May sound a little generic, but it'd be a lot better than the endings already provided.

You know, in MK and MK II, you'd have to play the game enough to gather every other fighter's endings. You have to find which one would really continue the story. The other endings you get sound like it could be a true ending, but it really isn't, but you found out about them anyways.

The endings from Armageddon is what really set me off above every other complaint with Armageddon. I like Armageddon and all, but the endings don't do the character's justice.

I will never understand why people care so much about story line for a fighting game. Who cares why dead characters came back, all that matters is that you have over 70 characters to choose from. If a character is a good fighter or fun to use and then dies, should we never get to see them in a game again without adequate explanation?

The story mode was impressive.
The story mode was repetetive and tiresome and ripped off God of War in ways that weren't even subtle.

The game itself did seem rushed when shipped out. The game didn't have the bios. Midway and MK teams would release them and then only released about 10 of bios. MKDA had a good stroyline, and MKD continued on the story. MKA seemed to jump the barrel.

It could have changed.

1. more characters for Motor Kombat.

2. more arenas for Motor Kombat.

3. more arenas in for Kombat.

4. each charchter should have own two fatalities. Like the ones where would sit back and watch what happens.

5. Konquest could have been a little longer.

6. more blood, im a bloody person.

7. second outfits for certain characters were the same, dissapointment.

8. need better Krypt.

9. need more kombos,

10. need more death traps.

11. it had Fujin with his wind staff.

Most of those are just fanboy wishes, they wouldn't actually improve the game. I think Create-A-Fighter should have had more options, but it wouldn't have really made the game a whole lot better. ...and it might not even be realistic to demand that. After 70 characters, Konquest Mode, and a racing game, there may not have been room for more of everything.

The problem with Motor Kombat wasn't that there weren't enough arenas and characters, it's that the difficulty scale was pretty much broken. Coming from someone who beat Mario Kart: Double Dash in its entirety, Motor Kombat seems nearly impossible to beat on a difficulty above Easy.

And the story mode didn't need to be longer, it needed to be less monotonous.

Maybe it failed because it hasn't improved one iota from Deception. The only real difference was that there were more characters. Other than that, it was the same graphics, the same game modes, heck, it was the exact same game as Deception and even Deadly Alliance.

I was actually just wondering if I should still get Deception if I have Armageddon. The answer seems to be no.
