Why did this film only get a 'very' limited release in the US?

I'm from the UK and I watched this movie last night, it wasn't the best War movie of all time, but by no means the worst. I'm very suprised that with the subject matter of the movie and what the Iraq war means to the US it wasn't shown in more theatre's and made more money....your thoughts or facts please? Ta.

Movies that show with the Iraq war in a negative light have usually done poorly in the U.S. Along with this movie there is: Lions for Lambs, Rendition, In the Valley of Elah, Stop-Loss, and Redacted.

this movie isn't very accurate at all...i don't think it deserves any praise...if you want to watch a good movie that is real, accurate, and shows what really happens to soldiers watch stop-loss

the movie had a limited release because, well...garbage movies don't ever get big releases. Personally I rented this movie because I had a free movie rental. It is my belief that i should not only get another free rental, but my gas and time should be paid for to make up for this movie. Besides its horribly inaccurate depiction of war the movie is just dumb. A perfect example is Jessica Biel. Understandably, it would be very difficult to have a limb removed, but seriously how hard is it to button a button with one hand. Not to mention she is in the military so all of her clothes have buttons. She should have a handle on using a button, even using only one hand.
This was made by some a**hole trying to make money off the real hardships caused by war. As far as this IMDB goes, I wish I could rate this in the negative. 1 out of 10 is far too high.

This movie although not the best in the reality of war genre didn't have a wider release because most Americans just want the John Wayne type of war movies. Being patriotic is more than putting a flag on your car or believing in a stupid slogan "get them there before they get us here" "the smoking gun of a mushroom cloud will be the result of Saddam's weapons of mass destruction".

This is the aftermath of War. Remember war is the final phase of diplomacy and should only be used as a last resort.

Or maybe because it's a really bad movie!

The war was wrong and most Americans know that, but that doesn't make a bad movie worth mass distribution.
