It is. It's called Liar Liar and/or Bruce Almighty. Let's be honest and get the facts here; douchy person gets some (unwanted) attention from something supernatural or at least something unexplained, which causes him to lose all his normal abilities (and creates a great plot device to be silly onscreen) and go all crazy. He loses his wife, job, normal crappy life and then makes amends and becomes a better person. The one difference being here that Jack would actually die.
