THE plothole

He could have just written that he couldn't speak for medical reasons, waste five leaves from the trees, and keep showing the paper throughout the two days, and just shut the hell up. But of course, no movie then... it's just a weakness that it has to ignore obvious solution in order to have "a story".

reply

EVERY SINGLE MOVIE, HAS A SOLUTION WHICH CAN BE FOUND IN THE BEGINNING OF THE MOVIE.

reply

Why the comma?

reply

Exactly it was silly he couldn't come up with an excuse for two days or just call in sick for a few days citing voice problem.

Of course it is just a movie and remember he thought he needed a few days to talk to Dr Sinja who couldn't help him any way. So he was ultimately screwed regardless.

reply

The leaves may have fallen every time someone else read it. He was SO important and high powered he couldn't miss a day.

What we have here is failure to communicate!

reply

Leaves fell off every time he wrote on paper, as well as when he spoke out loud.

reply

Wrong wrong wrong. He had hoped the Guru would come home from his trip with some sort of "cure". That didn't happen. He would've had to remain silent forever, unless he went through this spiritual awakening.

reply

The hole in your plothole...

If he showed a paper that he can't speak for a medical reason, people would have asked him to write on a paper. How could he explain that he cannot write on a paper either?

reply

He blew out his wrists from many years of intense masturbation, and had someone else write the "can't speak" note for him. Easy solution. And funnier than this movie.

^This.

Obviously wealthy enough, he could've just rented a cabin in the woods somewhere and pretended to go on a "retreat" for a couple of days (a 2 day "mental health" absence), turned off his cell phone and probably learn more about himself in silence. But that would be an entirely different movie...maybe a drama of self-discovery rather than a comedy (and maybe earn a second Oscar nom). Who knows?

reply

Or he could've written on the paper that as part of his visit to his guru, he's taken a vow of silence.
