The lady almost didn't give us our money back...

My mom and I saw the cast and thought "Hey, sure it's kid's movie, doesn't mean we can't have some fun, right?" We left after 15 minutes, and it only took us that long to leave because for a few minutes we thought the other person wanted to stay. I can't remember what excrementally awful joke it was that made us look at each other, but eventually we did and without words reached the conclusion that both of us would rather have dental surgery without Novocaine than continue watching it. When we went up to the lobby to get our refund, we almost didn't get it because it had been more than 10 minutes since we had gone in. But luckily, Mom is a champion arguer and got the manager involved, so we got our refund.
Just thought I'd share a little bit of experinece with the movie that stole 15 minutes from my life. Minutes I could've spent watching something worthwhile. Like paint drying on a toolshed, or my dog crapping on the lawn.

Any minute now I'll jump in with pointless observations.

The retailer is doing you a favor? I've done the same thing much longer into a film! And if you buy something that isn't of quality, you don't return it? Fine with me if you're OK with wasting your money, but I work for my money and won't spend it on crap.

my mom and I walked out on a movie......it was maybe around the 40 minute mark...didn't think to get our money back...maybe next time we will...

people say to me, oh you should have read the book, what's wrong with you, we liked the movie....and all that....

so......that doesn't mean that one, I had to read the book, and two that we had to like the movie....

it's been on tv, since, quite a few times, and I still have no desire to watch it at all....

Hahaha! That's fantastic! Just checked this because I was watching an older Jon Stewart interview where he was making fun of the fact he was in this piece of crap and Bonnie was in "Cars".

I worked at a movie theater, and I just wanted to say I hate people like you. Your kind of people are the worst.

reply

It's not coming out of your pocket.

reply

I have to agree with you. I don't have a lot of money to go to the movies as often as I would like (or the time, I have 4 kids), so when I do go, I make sure its a movie I want to see, otherwise I wait until it can be rented (or watched on TV). If the movie sucks, I still don't leave or ask for a refund. It was my mistake in choosing the movie, or the advertisers of the film for making it look good. Either way it wasn't the theater's fault that the movie sucked.

reply

And you're the kind of people who accept people stealing your money. Everybody always accepts crap. "Oh, I don't want to inconveniece them. I don't want to bother them. It's okay my eggs had spit in it. I'll just eat around it."

You pay for a service. You don't deserve crap after they take your money. How about fighting for your rights sometimes.

reply

So if I try something new in a restaurant, and I don't like what I chose, the restaurant shouldn't expect me to pay for it? For *beep* sake get real - why does everone else have to pay for your stupidity?!

reply

That is not a good analogy. In the restaurant example, the materials used to make the food cannot be reclaimed and sold again. The restaurant is out the total cost of the meal.

However, The cost to run a film is the same no matter if zero or several hundred people are watching it. There is also no physical loss of product. Refunding the money to these viewers does not mean they can no longer show the movie or have lost any actual product. The theater is only out the admission of a movie these people didn't watch anyway. (and gains customer loyalty by offering good service as well)

reply

if you're not sastisfied with something, you can send it back....

so..yes, you should have a refund from a movie...if you didn't like it.....

but, there's also that caviet emptor....let the buyer beware...

I agree with the restaurant........but, make sure that you're really going to like the food......or perhaps ask to take it home.......

sometimes I'm not in the mood to eat something, but I am later on, let's say....

susan

yes, the movie industry is way too confident......isn't it....

Sat and watched this the other night with my girlfriend, her kid, and my niece and nephew. I cringed every ten seconds. I don't think I could be paid to watch this, let alone pay to to see it. Terrible. Just terrible.
