Horrible...Charleston SC?

Terrible movie, one of the worst that I've seen in some time. Long, boring, and anti-climatic!

I live in Charleston,SC and boy did they miss the mark when they tried to portray Charleston. I don't even like Charleston, but they did a horrible job with there conception of what life is like or the people are like here in Charleston. I felt like they were name dropping the whole movie to try and give it an authentic feel, but it missed.

And the southern accent on the lead character? Drives me crazy to hear such a fake accent that sounds so bad.

Stay away, Christian or not, stay away......I don't know where some people got that this is a Christian movie? I didn't see it.

Stay away, no matter how bored you are, stay away from this one.

I too have lived in and around Charleston most of life. While I think that there is definitely a couple of name dropping moments to make it feel accurate, there was also a lot of truth to some of the characters. The old guys (Pat Hingle and MCDowell particularly).

As for the Christian part... it was all over it. Prayer... Bible reading... crosses...

I think that as a "Christian" movie it is a 9 (most of them stink and this is FAR better). As a thriller/horror a 1 or 2. Since it is clear from the DVD and audio commentaries that it was more Christian than thriller... I'd give it a 6.

You MAY know Charleston, but you know nothing about accents/dialects. Carrington & Burton are both from VIRGINIA, & the ease with which Brits(McDowell)fall into American southern accents is well known.(There's a reason for this....Do a little research.) Incidentally, McDowell was married to Arkansan Mary Steenburgen for 10 years.......And, by the way.....the movie wasn't about Charleston, the city you live in but don't like.

We've lived in Charleston our whole lives and LOVE it! They totally captured the look and feel of the coast. Accents were great and YES it is a Christian film!
