The film could certainly do without that annoying Choir Boy...

I didn't like this movie in many ways, but that little boy following Rev. Frank ALL the time just totally threw me off the edge.
Of all the unrealistic stuff, that was the most absurd one. Where were that boy's parents? Why didn't they just take him home, for crying out loud!!!

reply

he was so out of place and the whole film would have been so much better without his character.

I AM a fan of the actor that played choir boy and thats the reason i saw this but i agree his chracter maid nosenes i mean were we his perents why was he not in school and why did he not have a name other than CB.

I though Williams was kinda screwing him - I mean, come on, he is booked for 2 years, but still can spy on everything they say and go to jamaica WITH the boy...I got a little Michael Jackson-vibe there, but maybe that's just me...

reply

Why did they even call him Choir Boy? He had nothing to do with the choir. The reverend was his mentor for the priesthood.

reply

He was the best part of the film - imagine it without him: the Reverend sitting alone in a van listening to the couple's foreplay is a pretty gruesome scene, isn't it?

There are other scenes, too, in which the kid is essential and partially redeems an otherwise unfunny comedy.

I was just about to make a post about this. The little kid irked me from the beginning. He wasn't the slightest bit funny and quite frankly could have been done without.

Viva la Vie Boheme!!!

You mean that fat kid? Oooooh yeah, unbelievably annoying.

Just so we're clear - boys are not mentored by priests to become priests, at least in the Catholic tradition. The way a young man becomes a priest is by attending a seminary, a special school for training at the college level. Young men finishing their course work become ordained and maybe then work with a more experienced priest at the parish level.

While Rev. Frank most likely isn't Catholic (he would have been called Father Frank, as it's been posted elsewhere on these threads) it's absurd to think a pre-pubescent child - especially an obnoxious one with a big mouth - would be taken under the wing of a man of the cloth.

A ridiculous character in an unwatchable movie. What was Robin Williams thinking?

reply

I agree.

Yeah, what was the boy doing in a van alone with a priest at night? And his parents didn't mind? They didn't mind this priest sending their child out to break the law?

IMO, the worst people in the movie were his parents. The character's parents for being irresponsible. And the actor's parents for not aborting him when they had the chance.

I loved his character but at the same time I wanted to strangle him just like I did in the Nancy drew movie. I found him really annoying but i think that's partly why i like CB

Hahah I had the same reaction as you. The movie was pretty unbelievably awful, but that brat was the WORST PART by far!!

an act of desperation, and the poor kid-actor was out of his element.

He sucks in any movie that he's in.
