interesting, but would never happen.

Interesting concept for a movie, but would never happen, unless it were in some bizzaro alternate Orwellian universe.

The basic reason being, no one can "investigate" a marriage. Especially in a state like New York, where people tend to be more left-leaning. Why? Simply the fact that no one can investigate you for being gay, straight, bisexual, or whatever. That would be discrimination. Therefore there is no "falsifying government documents." It is also an invasion of privacy rights. And if someone even admitted to being straight under the pretense of being gay for benefit fraud, that would violate self-incrimination laws. The only examples where investigations do usually occur is immigration fraud, but even that is tenuous.

While I'm not condoning insurance fraud, I am saying that the premise of this movie is a legal mess to begin with, and only exists in our wishful fantasies.

Yes. The premise of this movie makes no sense, why is it anyone's business why chuck and Larry got married??

reply

It's. You know. A comedy.
