How did Larry's son turn gay?

Or when?
I must have missed that part.

reply

He was always gay.

reply

I don't think it was ever established that the son WAS gay. He liked to sing and dance and was not a big sports fan, but he could still be heterosexual.

reply

Exactly, it was never established that Larry's son liked to have sex with men. It was established that he liked to cook and sing and tap dance, audition for school musicals, and was repulsed by the centerfold of HUSTLER magazine.

reply

"Exactly, it was never established that Larry's son liked to have sex with men. It was established that he liked to cook and sing and tap dance, audition for school musicals, and was repulsed by the centerfold of HUSTLER magazine."

Right. And as we all know, none of those things are gay.

I asked the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

reply

Why are you trying to assign a sexual preference to a young boy who wouldn't have any sense of who he is yet, let alone who he likes?

Go take a step outside - see what's shaking in the real world.

reply

Ummm, I don't think that I was trying to assign a sexual preference to him. I think the screenplay writers took care of that all by themselves.

reply

Oh, I should point out that I was using the term 'you' generally...I just happened to be on your particular post when I had that thought.

reply

Well, "you" replied to "me." Next time, "you" should reply to the original poster.

To typical homophobes they would be automatically considered gay but to reasonable people they might not be.

reply

Actually being gay just means you're attracted to members of your same sex, that's all.

I've often wondered there are fem lesbian women who are attracted to women, so why cant a guy be fem and be attracted to women?

There are masculine gay men, so why cant there be masculine straight women?

Create a society in which you would like to live, not knowing what you're going to come into it as.

reply

Well the movie clearly hinted at it by using a lot of homosexual stereotypes, duly noted in the previous posts. I hated how the movie just HAD to make the son presumably gay only for cheap laughs. And by the way, no one TURNS gay.

What transformation are you referring to? The kid was the same at the beginning as he was at the end. Stop looking for problems where they don't exist.

OK, so what's the speed of dark?

reply

It was never explained whether he was gay or not, because kids that young usually can't know what their sexual preference is, because most of the time they don't yet have sexual desires at all.
I think the moral of the story was, that it doesn't necessarily make him gay even if he liked to sing and dance, and even if he turned out to be gay it wouldn't make him any less of a human being he allready is.

reply

Completely untrue. Kids have sexual desires just like anyone else, not quite as pronouncedly, but most people can remember being attracted to one gender or the other as children. I agree with your point, but still, it's misleading to think that kids aren't in any way sexual until puberty hits.

Yes and no. Most kids as young as five have already experienced an attraction to one gender or another and that represents the attraction they will have for their entire life. Most, of course, do not understand their feelings at that age and can't attach any meaning to them.

Those feelings manifest themselves as "curiosity" until their teens when they finally bloom into sexual desire.

The boy in the movie is most likely gay, but we can't know for sure until he expresses romantic interest in one gender or another. That seems like it will be in a couple of years.

(I skipped over reading most of this thread so forgive me if this has already been talked about, but....)

Also, why doesn't anyone talk about Larry's daughter's apparent lesbianism?

I think the moral of the story was, that it doesn't necessarily make him gay even if he liked to sing and dance, and even if he turned out to be gay it wouldn't make him any less of a human being he allready is.

reply

He was more than likely transgendered, a kid WOULD have a sense of their inward identity as a male or female at YOUNG ages but youre right you likely wouldn't know your sexual preference until puberty.

The fact he screamed at the naked woman in the mag means nothing, most kids I imagine would be freaked out at something like that.

I have been wondering if LArry's son was gay, too. I think that just because he liked baking and musicals was stereotypical and of course is not a given that a guy may be gay.

So just for fun, who thinks he is gay. Show of hands. Show of hands if you don't think he is gay. Don't say "Who the hell cares?" This is just for fun.

My vote is no. Because it was too stereotypical and too obvious.

Well the answer is obvious. They forced him to watch Adam Sandler movies for 24 hours straight!

That is not nice talking about Adam Sandler and his movies. Now if you said watching Rob Schneider movies I would agree.Ugg I have not seen a movie with Schneider I liked.

I hope you realise JUST how completely stupid and ignorant your very 'question' is. I seriously don't even want to justify it with an explainitory response.

reply

People think Eric, Larry's son, was gay becuase he is a effeminate male.

So why don't people think Tori, Larry's daughter, is a lesbian becuase she is more of a tomboy?
