I dont know what the word is but she certainly is not a real actress.....

she makes the same type of movies that have the absolute dumbest plots with scenarios that NEVER occur in real life.

Im sorry but this movie has been done before and will be done many times over

Why does she waste her time, this movie looks like absolute garbage

sorry, im just venting I cant believe she is in this business, she needs to show that she can perform or write in a different GENRE!

So Nia's movies have dumb plots and unrealistic scenarios. How many movies have good plots and realistic scenarios, and how many people would see those films?

More to the point, though: Why do you think she's not a real actress for making these films? Julia Roberts has built a career on making crap. Why shouldn't Nia have equal opportunities?

I don't think Nia -- or Julia, for that matter -- are particularly good actresses and I have little interest in their films, but I acknowledge they are still actresses.

Valentine is Nia's directorial debut. She must have thought it'd be easy and found it quite a task.

Two comments:

1. Drop the stereotypes. Why couldn't the two assistants have been a part-time female intern and a slightly younger man with a crush on her? The gay stereotype is played out. No longer funny especially during a time when gays are trying to assert their rights to be openly gay in the military and secure marital rights. Let's allow them more dignity in film.

2. The half-crazed smile. LOL. It must have been difficult coordinating a shoot while acting in the scene so I'll give her some slack here.

Otherwise, Valentine was a rather charming movie.

That half-crazed smile almost made me crazy. How am I suppose to take her serious when she looks like some TV shop saleswoman.

And I agree about the gays, dont they have any imagination?

And why she is doing the things she is doing - my guess is she doesnt get into anything else. No need to make excuses.

Yeah, I really didnt like this movie.

Jozielee: you missed the point on Item 1 and she led you down the garden path. You assumed that the two assistants were gay because they conformed to the stereotype. But towards the end of the film, when everything started unraveling for Nia, they both showed up with female dates. She set you (and her character) up and you all fell for it!
With respect to Item 2---well, you have me there. It was annoying and you shouldn't undertake to direct yourself if you can't honestly evaluate/control the performance of EVERY cast member.

Nope, I watched that scene over and over. They were never with female dates. They did however hold hands in one scene and one kissed the top of the others head in another.

She was SOOOOO bad in this movie you could hardly watch it. She usually is pretty good. She should NEVER EVER direct herself again.

was it just me who thought she acted like a retarded?She often just stood staring without blinking and with a huge smile and i was looking at her thinking a woman with that expression can't count to three.

well, although english isn't my native language i think you could figure out what i meant.
i don't know how in the hell would you think i was making fun of retarded people. you just felt good pointing out a mistake.
to be clear i was making fun of her acting skill in this particular movie.
and it is really ironic that you are making fun of me because you felt i was making fun of retarded people.
