One of the most impressive movies I've ever seen.

And that says a lot for me. I'm a dvd collector with currently 800+ films in my collection and there are only a few in which I spent half the time with my mouth agape.

I thought no other korean movie could top Oldboy or Memories of murder, but I'm seriously considering Thirst to be exactly as good as both of them. The astounding cinematography and the perfect mix between Horror and Romance with the perfect amount of gore that's necessary linked with the religious theme of the movie.

I can see some minor flaws in the picture, but nothing too big to not recognize this as a masterpiece. I can't believe that there are people only giving this movie 8/10 or 9/10.

Another example for breathtakingly amazing modern korean cinema.

I was pretty astounded by the movie, which I watched only because I just finished reading Therese Raquin for the first time. It is an incredibly imaginative interpretation of Zola's book. I actually didn't "like" the movie that much and had to fast forward through many scenes, but I truly loved and appreciated it. It was absolutely brilliant in using the vampire theme and the production design in capturing the squalor and horror of the book.
