Favorite Dream theater song?

Whats yours? Mine is Acid Rain.

Formally known as Denzel Lockheart.

Best movie ever: BATTLE ROYALE (2001)

I think it's either the whole of six degrees of inner turbulence, or if that doesn't count, it's Strange Deja Vu (I love the guitar at the beginning.)

(P.S. Excellent sig God Send Conspirator. Except I think BR came out in 2000)

reply

Tough call, because I have so many favorites. I would have to go with "Learning to Live" or "Octavarium" if I was forced to choose.

reply

for me all songs of Images and Words, and more song like Octavarium,Endless Sacrifice,Strange Deja Vu,The Glass Prison,Lie,The Mirror.Anyway i like more and more songs of DT...maybe all songs!!!

reply

Yeah, Octavarium is one of their better songs... totally

my favorite song is either Home on scenes from a memory, or metropolis pt 1 (By the way, Acid rain is a "Liquid Tension Experiment" song, not really a Dream Theater song)

reply

Yeah, Acid Rain is LTE, not DT.

Favorite song? Hard to say. Either This Dying Soul or metropolis pt 1

reply

One of the toughest questions ever asked.

But i would have to say A change of Seasons and that also makes it my favourite song of all time.

reply

A tie between Take The Time and The Glass Prison.

I have to go with the disc-long epic "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence" from the album of the same name, but it is broken down into 8 tracks, so I dunno if that counts. On the new 3-disc album they have out, they do a live version of it with an orchestra, and all 41 minutes of it are on one track.

As for "normal" songs, definitely "Another Day" from Images & Words. Very close behind is "6:00" from the Awake album.

There's hardly a tune of theirs that I don't like, actually, I like everything they've ever done so far. Ye Gods.

Octavarium.

Quite a few, so I'll pick my favourites for each album:

-When Dream and Day Unite: Status Seeker, The Killing Hand, Only a Matter of Time
-Images and Words: Take the Time, Metropolis Pt. 1, Wait for Sleep/Learning to Live(to me it's one song)
-Awake: Lifting Shadows Off a Dream, Space-Dye Vest, A Mind Beside Itself, Lie
-A Change of Seasons: A Change of Seasons, Funeral for a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding(they did this and Achilles Last Stand so well!)
-Falling Into Infinity: Trial of Tears, Burning my Soul, Hell's Kitchen
-Scenes From a Memory: Overture 1928, Beyond This Life, Home, Finally Free
-6 Degrees of Inner Turbulence: Blind faith, The Great Debate, 6 Degrees of Inner Turbulence(especially Solitary Shell and War Inside my Head)
-Train of Thought: As I Am, This Dying Soul, Vacant, In the name of God
-Octavarium: The Root of All Evil, Sacrificed Sons, Octavarium

Can't wait for the next album!

"I believe in the authority of a ruling class, especially since I rule."
-Randal Graves

My list of songs I dont' like would be much shorter and much easier than just picking one song I like.

reply

A Change of Seasons is my favorite song of all time, but Ministry of Lost Souls is up there also.

"He's hung like a Clubtail Dragon Fly!"

A Change of Seasons, closely followed by Space-Dye Vest. So amazing...

Here's looking at you, kid.

reply

I'd have to go with Take the Time, closely followed by Metropolis, which was my introduction to Dream Theater.

"Enemies of METAL, your death is our reward,
triumphant victory when you bring the steel to life!"

reply

Out of all Dream Theater's masterpieces my top 3 favorite songs are Home, a Change of Seasons and The Glass Prison!
Perfection!
