VASTLY underrated

I seem to be in the minority, but I found this movie to be a delightful engagement of two acting powerhouses, each rising to the occasion above most of his previous work, playing off each other in a quite thrilling display which clearly parallels the giant presence of the historical figures they are portraying(*).

The kiddies won't appreciate the absence of literal pyrotechnics and improbable acrobatics and martial skills, but those possessed of a zest for life and an appreciation of character development will find figurative pyrotechnics here.

(*) Even if it turns out in Josef Breuer's case that this is only inferred.

I watched some of this this morning and see what you mean, I thought it was excellent and Im going to buy it so I have to watch again. Philosophy sometimes has to be taken in a second or third time. I love Armand Assante anyway!! Excellent movie thanks for the post of positive feedback !!

Um, this movie had actual pyrotechnics, and besides, the only figurative pyrotechnics was that of my brain being fried by watching such cliched stupidity.

I fully agree with your appreciation. This movie is a very "rare bird" in the american cinematography. It has a lot of surrealistic elements very well solved. Also it belongs to the kind of very well transposed novels that is really important talking about Yalom novels.

Yes it's an relly good movie.

The people who like this movie are probably the same ones who worked on the set, they are just trying to give it publicity. I am sure the book must be interesting, however this movie is a steaming pile of manure. Plain and simple.
