I wondered about this too and I did some detective work. this is what I learned from the movie's myspace page, and from emailing the address on the movie's website:
last year the filmmakers created two websites related to the movie: one was called "lovely by surprise" and the other was called "the neverything". Each website featured a different thread from the film's storyline - both of the sites were essentially a series of brief videos, and together they teased out the first few minutes of the movie over multiple short installments. but you could never watch the whole movie online.
still, those websites are most likely why imdb says the movie had an "online premiere" in march 2006 - whoever submitted that information was probably confusing the movie "Lovely By Surprise" with the website of the same name that was created to build anticipation for the film. (the website itself has since been replaced with an old school trailer for the movie.)
As for the August 1 US release date - I have no idea why imdb says this and I don't know if I even believe it. I think it is wrong. So far the film's only been screened at the Seattle Film Festival, which was in June, and it's scheduled to play next week at the Edinburgh FIlm Festival in the UK. A real US release date would mean that the movie had a distributor, and that it's going to be playing in theaters, at least in new york and LA - but I don't think this is true yet. it's still an indie movie playing festivals, and if it gets released in theaters, it won't happen for at least a few months.
I don't know what the process is for changing false info on an imdb page, or who gets to do it, etc, but hopefully someone gets around to correcting that stuff soon.
