did not get what they wanted to say (spoilers)

i kind of sat through the whole thing hoping for some clue or meaning or.. anything. but all i saw was a bunch of nutjobs doing nutjob-things.. until the movie was over.

1) The writer.. what was the whole "i am on the phone with my father but my telephone is not even plugged in"

2) The two guys from the boat.. the little girl.. the daddy who drowned in the pool.. was it all her in her crazy little mind?

3) What was it all about?

in the end she got her book published.. okay.. and?
if someone is out there who got the whole thing, please enlighten me. the movie seems to have completely failed at this point.. or maybe it's just me to being unable to put the peaces together.

The little girl mimi was marian the author as a child and showed the disturbing events of her upbringing which come back to her as she writes the novel.

The characters of her novel Humkin and Mopekey are dual aspects of herself, one that wants to remain hidden away in her little world the other wanting to escape and see everything to remember what happened, used as a coping mechanism.

Well that was my intrepetation anyway :)

The interpretation by jzus369 makes sense. The porch scene with Jackson's wife shows Marian's identity as Mopekey. And the final scene at the pool makes it pretty clear that the little girl is actually Marian. I suppose then that Humkin was Marian's imaginary childhood friend who finally got her speaking again.
