What a load of RUBBISH

The worst effects I have ever seen. Such a let down I thought this was going to be great, it looks fake and cheap.

reply

I just think the whole concept is bad, it tries to be fictional but informative at the same time, it doesn't go well.

reply

yeh it is odd, think that guy really thinks he's there sometimes
was especially odd to begin with like wtf, but ok onse you know whats happening

reply

Yep, agreed. Complete and utter excrement. If you are remotely interested, you can read more of my thoughts on the thread http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0760139/board/thread/48922035?d=49973562#49973562. It'll save me wasting any more time commenting on this crap

reply

No it isn't - it's supposed to be for general "consumption".

...and it's still rubbish.

reply

I agree, the graphics are bad... But the concept and imagination is good

effect were oke...

the rest was just awefull, chasing imaginary dinosaurs (which you will see will never attack or eat a human!!!) and then place them in a 'park' between wooden fences...
and the acting was horrible as well...

also it funny humans think they now exactly how dinosaurs looked, moved, smelled and behaved... but they were never there!!! so dont say they do this and this and that and that because probably they wont...

reply

I thought the effects varied greatly. Some of the animals like the wooly rhino and the t-rex were surprisingly convincing in places... but then the deinosuchus looked like absolute garbage. there didn't seem to be much quality control in that area of production.

I have to agree with you, but I'm grateful for ANY educational program like this that is not geared solely for children. I am a huge prehistoric life fan and have been since a child, but even then I was interested only in the books, movies etc. geared toward adult audiences.

We must remember that the effects will only be as good as money can buy, as the saying goes. Trying to keep within budget is hard, and it is better to have a production like this with, say, B effects as opposed to A, then not have it at all, well--I'm happy that we have shows like this.

The drivel that is on most of TV today is unwatchable. I for one enjoy and support these fine efforts towards educating people (mostly adults) in an enjoyable and fun way. There is too much dumbing down as it is.

Bravo to the show and its producers!

I thought the effects were pretty good, but it's distracting to have a narrator and a presenter. It should be one or the other. I started watching the first episode, and I started losing interest when Nigel outran the t-rexes.

reply

well they only ate dead stuff. its been proven many times over t-rexes don't have the bone structure to be runers. and plus, if it tripped it would've died, so it might've been being careful. and aside from the fact he's a brit i liked the show a lot.

The Force will be with you.

reply

Don't watch, then.

The graphics aren't really lovely, but dinosaurs don't exist anymore - no possible way for them to elaborate more on what, say, the Sabretooth looked like. I like the concept, however.

reply

yeah computers can only do so much. THAt is why we wont be killed by them. for a while.

The Force will be with you.

reply

What have you got against Brits?

reply

I've seen far worse effects in my time. But do bear in mind this is for kids, unlike Walking with Dinosaurs which was geared at adults.

reply

Worst effects someone has ever seen? Come on, watch Mortal Kombat 2 ;)

I like this show.

reply

It has a decent animation. Some shots look even better than a few WWD shots. I like this show too. True, I have only seen two episodes this far but it doesn't look so bad. At least, IMO. ;)

reply

Overall the graphics were actually fairly accurate to what we've extrapolated regarding various extinct species, in the case of the Mammoth and Sabretooth we do have an advantage though in that some have been found perfectly preserved. I didn't notice any obvious faults when I watched it besides the stupidity of Nigel at some points which is hard to believe a pro other than Steve Irwin would have done those things. However as a fictional documentary it does well at what it tries to do, which is educate us as far as current thought goes on these animals, and some of the issues brought up with bringing them forward to our time ring true.

In this one the effects aren't a major concern, accurate models and animation is more critical and that seemed intact.
