What's with you haters?

I was watching this show with my kids the other day. They both love it, and we're all amazed by the special effects. In the episode with the woolly mammoth it suddenly struck me how the mammoth looked just as real and natural as the elephants it appeared to be interacting with.
Later, I went on to Youtube and found a clip from Valley of the Gwangi. I saw that movie at a Saturday Matinee in the 1970's. The dinosaurs in it are all stop-motion animation done by Ray Harryhausen, who was considered a special-effects genius in his day. I showed it to my kids and said "That's what dinosaur special effects looked like when I was a kid". Of course my kids laughed at me. I still get a kick out of Ray Harryhausen's special effects, but they seem dreamlike and almost surreal compared to the incredible realism in Prehistoric Park.

So I must admit to being rather baffled by the comments I read here, with pretentious little snots sneering about crappy cgi. Are you watching this show frame by frame on a jumbotron? Do you work for a rival cgi production company? Or do you think whining and moaning about a children's television programme makes you appear sophisticated and jaded? Yes I have seen Jurassic Park, I thought the effects in Prehistoric Park were just as good and I didn't have to suffer through Jeff Goldblum. I've also seen Walking With Dinosaurs, and loved that too. I just don't get how anybody could not like the special effects in Prehistoric Park.

On the subject of things that look absurd, have you ever read one of your own posts? The next time you borrow your mum's computer maybe you should try and master a few basic skills before making an ass of yourself on message boards. Spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and sentence structure would be good things to start on.

Your response to my post makes you look like an idiot, to put it bluntly. Why should I care what some random idiot thinks about a show I like?

I happen to be a grandmother and love the series. I bought it and am looking forward to the day my grandkids are old enough to sit still and watch it with me. As far as CGI. animatronics, or any other film technique used to bring these animals to "life" it is still a good show. It is more believable in many ways than Jurassic Park with the exception of the time travel. I laughed myself silly when he used the Titanosaurus to pull his dead vehicle through the time portal.

"Are you watching this show frame by frame on a jumbotron?"
You'd almost think so, the way they pick it apart.

"Do you work for a rival cgi production company?"
I'd almost like to think that that's it; it would at least make sense that they'd have a motive to bash the CGI.

"Or do you think whining and moaning about a children's television programme makes you appear sophisticated and jaded?"
B-I-N-G-O and Bingo was his name-O! Unfortunately, being jaded, cynical, and a general snot is considered cool by far too many people. And hey everybody wants to be cool, right? So some people make a big show of being jaded, cynical, and a general snot. Worse yet, some people are impressed by this and think that it's like, way cool, y'know? This only encourages said behavior.

I disagree with you, but I'm pretty sure you're not Hitler.
