Why hasn't Showtime produced a spin off?

In the first episode there is a line that says "we know how the story ends, let's start from the beginning." Yes, we know that Queen Elisabeth 1 is the end of the Tudor line. There is still scandal and intrigue with Mary of England and how she acquired the throne, Edward and Mary at odds, manipulation from quart chairmen, Mary acquiring soldiers to take the throne, Mary locking Elisabeth in the tower. I'm mean come on? Showtime produced a popular and profitable series. The actress who played Mary could still continue her role, since Mary was in her 30s when she took the throne. Having a younger Edward and Elizabeth would work and keep a series going for a few seasons. Just a suggestion.

I'm in!

I haven't heard anything, but hopefully after Michael Hirst is done with Vikings?

Why does "the beginning" always start with Anne Boleyn?

The "real" beginning of Henry's story starts with Katharine of Aragon in 1501. :P

I'd say THAT is the story I want to see, but they'd probably base it off a Philippa Gregory novel and make me furious. :P

The "real" beginning of The Tudors would be what happened to Henry VII after Richard III died at the Battle of Bosworth Field.

I would love to see a spinoff with the three children after the death of Henry - Mary, Elizabeth and Edward.

So much went on in the wake of Henry's death. Edward ruled for a few years but eventually succumbed to sickness. Mary took the throne and "Bloody Mary" began to reshape England in the Catholic vision. She had a few phantom pregnancies with no actual births (would be interesting to see this play out on screen) - and of course Elizabeth had to continue to walk the political tightrope so as not to be beheadded. Her mere presence was troubling for Mary and Elizabeth's life was not garuanteed.

I think this would be a fantastic show. With the proper casting and writing i think fans would like to see this story continue on screen.

Oh and I forgot about the short reign of a reticent Lady Jane Grey in an attempt to prevent the Catholic Mary from taking the throne following Edward's death. This crew was full of drama.
