Started off very well ...

... then about halfway through it became uneven. Too many loose ends had to be resolved in too little time and it seemed haphazard. I did like the end scene though.

I meant the very final scene of him just typing.

I agree it did seem to start off great, then it just flew off into different directions.

I liked the movie, but I thought it was stupid that Heather was developing romantic feelings towards Frank.

I found that to be weird. He was like her mentor, so it didn't seem to fit into the plot very well.

Do you think she was sincere, though?

reply

I think she was sincere because when Frank actually slaps the Heather character in the movie, then she acts shocked & hurt NOT only physically, but especially emotionally.

It's ALWAYS possible she was just using Frank to get her thesis done, but that wasn't my perception of the movie. Simply because of how the movie unfolded.

I think Heather was seeing past his wrinkles & gradually found herself falling deeper & deeper in love with Frank as the movie progressed because she was getting her feelings of admiration confused with borderline lust and almost into love. In other words, she was allowing her admiration for his mind & accomplishments to become intertwined with passionate love, which lead to her being shocked when Frank actually slapped her in the movie.

Does that make sense?

reply

Makes sense, but I am cynical. Living in a small university town I see young women and older men exploiting each other for gain.

reply

Really?

So, you think Heather was just exploiting Frank for her own academic purposes?
