I have watched many movies in my time and rarely have I been bothered about gore and shocking content. Until now. This movie goes way too far and I get the feeling there is something wrong with the directors mind to bring us this piece of garbage......The cruelty to the animals at the start was just uncalled for and the scene involving the baby well that's worse for me. Boll or whatever his name is should have been arrested and locked up in a padded cell for this tripe.
Instead of feeling so victimized by a movie you had the option of not watching and then rushing here to post yet another tired Boll hating rant, perhaps you could have taken a few moments to research the film (reading some of the posts here on IMDB as a start) to better understand the director and the ideas behind SEED and some of it's shocking scenes. Better yet, listen to the director's commentary on the dvd and get the skinny straight from Dr. Boll himself.
No, it's not Citizen Kane. But as a horror dealing with man's propensity and love for violence that pushes that same violence to it's limits, it was a great statement by Boll and it got people's attention, including yours. Props to Dr. Boll.
As for your "cruelty to the animals comment", I will explain it once again since you didn't bother to research it yourself. The clip at the opening of the film was obtained from PETA and was intended to shock the viewer (which it did) and raise awareness about animal cruelty. It was one of many elements in the films overall theme of violence and not just gratuitous animal torture porn for the director and viewers to get their rocks off to. Boll has said himself that he was initially undecided about including the PETA clip and many people have credited him for his decision to go ahead with it.
At least try to understand something before over reacting to it.
You are absolutely right I should have done some research on this movie before watching it. I think I was maybe a bit too harsh on Mr Boll without knowing any facts going into watching it....I love horror movies and I have hundreds in my collection so i'm used to gore and shocking content but I draw the line at killing babies. Yes I know it's only a movie but it upsets me a great deal and it is uncalled for to show something like that in a movie that is supposed to entertain not disgust the audience.
Simply there was nothing I enjoyed. I found it rather dull. It really just bummed me out with watching people slowly die or the real life animal cruelty. Dont get me wrong I love a good nasty gross out gorefest. I really like films like The Human Centipede, The Saw films and Cannibal Holocaust. And I thought Maryrs and A Serbian Film were OK. Those films I got a satisfying shock with. However Seed I just flat out did not enjoy at all. It made me feel depressed without the satisfying shock.
