Such a well made movie!

I happened on this movie again (about a half hour in) the other day and, sure enough, couldn't resist watching it all the way through, even though I've seen it a couple of times already. Reminds me of my late parents with certain movies like THE QUIET MAN or, of all things, PRETTY WOMAN. Anyway, I just find it extremely well crafted and intelligent, with emotions and laughs that are earned, and not just 'stuck on,' like, for instance, in the unbearably bad LOVE, ACTUALLY. MUSIC AND LYRICS plays so beautifully to Grant and Barrymore's strengths and charms, and has such a great array of supporting players, all wonderful. When I first saw it, shortly after it was released, I was especially thrilled to see Matthew Morrison, as he was a Broadway god to me and other musical theater freaks, but virtually unknown to the wider public at the time. Anyway, this movie continues to delight, and I just wanted to note that.

Just make a movie that makes me care, one way or another. I'm open.
