Not a bad film considering SAGs attempt to kill it

Considering the hell this film went through to be made, i am very impressed. Its actually not bad. Many people dont really realize what went on during this film.

SAG is a guild that forces its members to abide by a rule that they, the actor, does not have the freedom or right to work on any film that is not ok by them, aka (non-union or indy). There is an alternative however, that lets actors have that freedom of choice (being part of the union and also getting to choose which films they wish to be in). This is called "Financial Core". Unfortunately the guild doesnt want actors knowing about this, they used mafioso tactics, scare tactics and right out bribery to keep this film and financial core from becoming a success. Right now they have a monopoly like grip on the film industry, and anything that they view as a threat to that power will be met with hostility and threats. By law they cannot do anything, but they have shown that they are willing to go outside of the law.

Its the hollywood mafia.

But i dont hate them, they were started to protect the actors, now they are there to protect their power on the industry. If you are an actor, they would get rid of you in a second to keep that power, to keep their "status". Its not about fairness anymore, its turned into something ugly.

Simon Conjurer was one such film attacked by the SAG. Jon Voight it seems wanted to be in a film he liked with a friend that happened to be an indy film maker. SAG didnt want him to do it, so they did everything they could to ruin the project and humilate the actor (aka 2005 SAG awards).

Simon Conjurer represents freedom as a film maker to make a film THEY always wanted to make, to be a visionary. Actors should have the right to choose the films they want to be in without persecution from the guild that is there to support them.

I hope more films come out like Simon Conjurer that give it to the man, that challenge the restricted freedom of the actor. For freedom, for choice. Its what the USA is all about. Should film be any different? It is an art form after all.
