Is this a real movie???

I saw the trailer and is this a joke? It looks like a fake movie, even in the credits it says "Written and Directed by: ?"

reply

unfortunately it is. :(

reply

I thought the same thing.

I thought it was a joke. But according to Best Week Ever, it's not a fake movie..just an extremely strange one.

And I guess the drummer from The Roots is directing this movie? :P

But seriously..what a strange concept.

I don't even know if I'll go see it...

reply

I thought it wasnt
this is like a joke movie

Voight is the godfather to the blonde girl in the movie. I don't recognize anyone else in the film, but what a truly strange film. So ... is this the turn hollywood is taking now? MST3K movies? Remember, we still have 'Snakes on a Plane' coming out this summer. Hell, both of those films are more interesting to me than anything else that's coming out.

reply

Wow. I was actually waiting for the voice over to say "I've got some good news... I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance." Is Jon Voight senile? What festering turd of a movie. I can't wait 'til it comes to pay-per-view, which should be in about 2 weeks.

reply

Just look around this message board -- a bunch of sock puppets arguing with each other about unions or some such nonsense. The movie appeared out of nowhere with no release date and no director. The characters' names are Scorpio, Teens, Toons, Rebel, and Dr. Crazx. Jon Voight went out of his way to call some hack gossip columnist to tell him about the movie. The "reviews" come from made-up people, who write for web sites that don't exist. The movie's web site has no copyright notice.

It's a hoax. If you believe otherwise, have your head examined.

reply

Or maybe it's all just an elaborate plot to get people talking about the moive like none other.

The movie is 100% real. I know someone who's seen the whole thing.

reply

Jon Voight came to my college and showed us a preview of the film. It's real, and it is strange, but it's meant to be funny. It's about a bunch of misfits, that have to solve a crime, and they are guided by this crazy guy (Voight). It's well...interesting. He plugged the site as well. I believe the director is fairly new, and thats probably why they are not listed.

reply

It's the lack of copyright notice that raises red flags with me. So Crystal Sky isn't the least bit concerned about their intellectual property?

You know what else raises red flags? Every person on this board who has seen the film, or knows someone who's seen the film, has one post. Frankly, if this really is a hoax, it's kind of poorly planned.

At the bottom of the website it says the site was created by ashoutinthestreet.com. I went to the site and it's kind of a joke page.

reply

It is a real movie. I am going to the inital showing

reply

It's very real. I walked through those sets. It was shot in Kelowna BC, Canada. They did a pretty good job on John V, you could barely recognize him. My kid was an extra in it and got a real pay cheque, so yes it's very real.

reply

Wait a minute, ?'s directing this? Wow, I guess after 96 tears he wanted to do something besides music.

reply

Ok,ok,ok this is what happened...

They were doing a workshop and typically dumb exercises, and the director/teacher/coach calls up his good friend John Voight to come by and do a master class.

So, they're doing their stuff before the master — the "Mirror" exercise, the "What if..." exercise, the "Waiting for Godot" exercise, the "Psycho Drama" exercise, various heavy breathing exercises, plus a few primal stage screams — and being the generous, reinforcing kind of guy he is, Voight says, "Hey, you kids are great! Why don't we find a location and turn this into a movie?" You know, the way Judy and Mickey say, "Hey Kids, let's find a barn and put on a show!"

What we have here, Folks, is real, but is it a movie or just an elaborate showcase of "budding talent," for which we are, as usual, the paying beta testers?

From his self-interview in Interview:

John Voight: Who is really playing the role of Dr. Crazx in the movie The Legend of Simon Conjurer? Is it you, or is it me?

Dr. Crazx: Let's let the audience figure that one out, shall we! Have a miserable day, Jon, if you can. For I feel something brewing in the theaters, and I'll be there when the movie opens..."

Sounds like Ocean's Twelve, a pure vanity piece, where we get to see acting types playing to each other.

reply

According to E! I believe, it was supposed to be released on the 28th of April. Still no sign of it.

reply

I just saw this movie at a theatre in union sq. in new york. Two of the actors were in the theatre. They had flown in from la because it is only being released in new york.

reply

Also...the opening credits are in a classroom and Written and Directed by is written on a chalkboard and the name is erased

reply

The Director is the Star, Simon.......at least that is what I was told when they filmed it here. But ka sa ra, even the name changed from Sunrise to this one. But ya,he's a pretty nice guy! Talked to him, he was the man.

reply

I just saw the film on 42nd street. Its real and its not that great either. Besides Jon Voight, the acting especially from the lead, is ameutrish and the music was awful.

reply

Huh... Google does list some showtimes:

I guess I was wrong, maybe it is real.

reply

Oh yes, it's very real. There is a comment on here from someone that did see the movie...but they aren't very encouraging! It was shot over 2 years ago. I have pictures from the set - met the director - noone seems to know. How come I get hungry every time I see your name!! Pancakes.

reply

They release the actual film in 2014 and a folk review it by saying it is really boring, but it's not a 138 min film, but mostly a 10 min film ! ;)
