Titts

Me and my Mum sat down after a nice lunch and we decided to watch a film, but what film? Isn't that always the question. Flicking though the t.v. film channels and we came across a film called "Love and other drugs." Reading the description we both decided this looks like a nice little rom-com involving two lost souls connecting on a level the average woman dreams to accomplish. Usually I wouldn't watch these predictable Hollywood love tales but as I was with my mum I made an exception. As the film progressed it became clear to me that my mother and I had made a grave mistake and what we was really watching was a border line soft porn, which don't get me wrong seeing Anne halfaway full frontal is something im happy exists in this world. Though there was a disclaimer I was still quite surprised on the amount of nudity and the sexual content, like every scene. We watch it, mum cried (at the end... woman) and we both decided next time we'll watch a Disney film. That will be all.

I can never understand people like you. If there's more than a PG love scene in a movie, it's a porno film. You clearly can't understand anything but the surface of this film. You cannot understand the characters or the story plain and simple.

reply

You've clearly misunderstood the point I was making. Which was I felt a little uncomfortable watching this with my mother of 60. So plain and simple learn to read and understand the written text before you bitch about something you don't!

reply

Well, that's why there's a RATING for every movie that gives you an idea of what the contents of the movie is and isn't. And this movie is clearly NOT for a family audience; but it TELLS you that by having a rating. So don't blame it on the movie.

reply

I'm pretty sure your mother has had sex many many times.

You have been trained to be sexually repressed and ashamed of sex. I do feel a bit sorry for you!

reply

Anne halfaway full frontal

Toplessness is now deemed "halfway full frontal"? The damage done by the MPAA truly is incalculable....

reply

It's rated "R" evidently you need to study the rating system!

Wasn't me

reply

"It's rated "R" evidently you need to study the rating system!"

It should've been rated at the very least "NC-17".

reply

Lol, NC-17? Why exactly?

reply

You've gotta be joking...I've seen R movies showing genitalia and all sorts of stuff worse than this.

reply

Are you suggesting that genitalia is bad?

reply

Actually there is a full frontal shot in there mate. I enjoyed it very much!

Whereabouts? Mate.

reply

I'm 100% hetero hot-blooded male and I cried at the end too. It was very moving and so well acted I found it emotionally real and was deeply affected. I love it when a movie makes me feel something.

God, you people say "Americans" like the reasons that everyone is against nudity is because we're all prudes or something...

It's not.

Get a clue. Many famous artists painted nudes... Also, Hollywood is in CALIFORNIA which happens to be the PORN capital of the world

The reasons that many of us have a problem with it is because often in movies it's presented in an ultra flamboyantly sexual way. It's never portrayed in a way that's "real" (as in real women/men) they're always extremely done up and there for shock value and pervy notions.

I didn't (for instance) have as MUCH of a problem in Titanic with the nudity because she was naked for a DRAWING, however, when the nudity is there and it's a sexual scene, it becomes very ODD and AWKWARD for the audience if they're not particularly used to it.

Why?

Well, let's just think about this for a minute... BECAUSE IT'S ABOUT SEX! Do we go around and look in people's windows and watch THEM have sex? No...? If we did, would you flippantly be all "heh, Americans!" ??? - and if we WANT to see those things, that's what PORN is for.

People want to watch movies for a STORY not to always see T&A, and again, if that's what you're after, there's plenty of that out there free for the grabbing (no pun intended).

As an actress myself, it always BAFFLES me why people think that watching naked people on movies and films is okay, but if a wife walks in on her husband (or vise versa) and sees him at the COMPUTER looking at a naked woman, suddenly it's porn... er... WHAT? What's the bloody difference?!?! There isn't any except what we call it.

Nudity has NOTHING to do with acting. Minus a few key instances there should never ever be a situation that REQUIRES an actor or actress to be nude. It's your body. You can ACT shooting a man in the head, you can't "ACT" naked. If you're naked, then you're naked... and you can't "act" sex scenes either... trust me. This is coming from a trained actress. There is always some amount of arousal, discomfort, etc. You can't "do that" with someone and "not feel anything" and honestly ? if you are, then you're not REALLY acting anyways.

It's not because we all have a problem with nudity, it's because the REASONS for the nudity are wrong, and exploitative. It's because nudity in film is regularly for shock value, and to sell tickets because horny dudes wanna see so and so the actress nude, and it's because usually it's in a sexual situation which sort of makes it "adult"...

From what I've seen of this film and the content advisory it is VERY excessive in the nakedness... which, ya know, really DOES take away from the story.

And you're an actress? Sexe is part of life! Like Capra said "what the people want is that we talk about people". Sexe is a (huge) part of life, so when a movie depict two persons life, why sexe shouldn't be represented?

I'm (triying to be) a writer, and when you wrote, you always have to ask : do it feel plausible? Realistic? belivable? And excluding nudity and sexe, in an couple représentation, feels simply impossible... It's not about wanting to see sexe, it's about how it is justify in the story, with the character. I can hardly imagine a passionnate relationship without sexe (unless it's justify by the characters).

And the fact that you compare this to porn is lame. The purpose of porn is not to tell a story, but to allow vewers to be excited at it and to masturbate, wich is not suppose to be this movie. And actually, real sexe is far more animal than what we see and often closer that porn that how it is représented in "normal" pictures.

But juste like say Paul Verhoeven "Cinema is an art made by exhibitionnists for voyeurs". Independently of sexe or not. So viewing characters sexuality is no more violating there intimacy that see them crying because they are spleeting, because they lost a child or because they are happy. The purpose of movie is talking about privacy... That's how you're attached to characters! And that's a notion very important, if you want to become an actress.

Hmmmmmm.......some of these posts are interesting, to say the least. As far as I'm concerned, I've got no problem with viewing movie sex that, at least, looks realistic to me, as in no one gets up from steamy sex and immediately pulls the blanket up around them. God knows that you can't let the person you just had sex with see your tits!

reply

And you're "triying" to be a writer? I hope the various spelling mistakes and grammatical errors in your post are because English is not your first language, rather than an indication of your ability to write. If the latter, then glass houses and stones spring to mind.

reply

what the heck is sexe ?

Porn OFTEN tells a story. It might not be a very good one, but many porn movies are story based. Then there's loads of sex. Many people are very aroused by sexual scenes in movies making the intent no different than what porn is... hence, porn.

I never said that sex scenes were bad, I said that gratuitous nudity is not needed. There were/are plenty of films where sex is shown and boobs and genitalia are not flying around everywhere.

I don't even know how to dissect the rest of what you attempted to say here.

Luckily, I AM a writer, and you shouldn't quit your day job.
