Toni Collette as an older Edie
what do you think?
the fascination with gg is over, who would make another movie? toni collette is too young to play big edie.
i was not talking about a new movie. I was asking if anyone would rather have seen Toni as Edie instead of Barrymore.
the older edie was played by jessica lange, not drew barrymore.
i know she was... god. What I meant was: Toni collette would have been great playing old little edie. now, do you need a drawing with that?

You weren't really clear with your question, so, the other poster was kind of right. Toni's not young enough to play the 18 year old little Edie, so no, it wouldn't work, unless they got two different people for the same part. Drew worked, she was at the perfect age and looks, she could pass for 18-34 (her age) and then they had to add make up to make her look older, which worked.
Toni is only two years older than Drew Barrymore. I'd hardly say such a small age difference makes Toni too old.

Fair enough, but I did mention looks as well. Drew looks much younger than her age, especially in her early 30s she did...Toni actually looks much older than what she really is. So, there you have it!
I knew exactly what you meant, and yes...I agree! Toni would've been perfect. I like Drew Barrymore a lot and she gave a good performance, but Toni's a far better actress with so much more range. I could definitely see her as an older Edie.
