Two things annoyed me about this version of Jason

1. He takes a prisoner.

2. He kills someone at long range with a compound bow and arrow.

Just not his style, either one of these things. Jason is a savage. He likes to kill them up close and personal.

reply

The previous movies show otherwise:

In part 2 Jason brought Teri to his shack in the woods. She only appeared to have a superficial wound as if Jason had intended to just knock her out. Paul is never found. Part 3 there is a backstory with Jason capturing Chris and her having no recollection of escaping.

Part 3 Jason kills Vera by shooting from a fair distance with a speargun.

reply

Terry's wound is superficial? Lol. He took a dead body back to his shack. That's different than taking a prisoner. The movie makers never say what happened to Paul, whether he lived or died. That's not evidence that Jason took him prisoner. And Chris never said she was captured. Jason was chasing her and she had no clear memory of what happened next.

As far as the speargun goes, he happened to find it when he was about to kill Vera and shot her from only a few feet away. That's different than carrying a compound bow and shooting someone from a distance.

reply

Yes, superficial. Jason had brutal murders and yet Teri was seen in the shack with only a small blood stain on her head that would be consistent that Jason knocked her out just as he had done with Paul.

Paul is presumed missing consistent with being kidnapped.

Chris blacked out while Jason persued her. No doubt he caught her. What is in question is what happened. Did Jason take Chris to his shack where she later escaped?

Jason shot Vera from only a few feet? No way. Look how long it takes the spear to reach her after he shoots. That shot had to be least 30 feet.

reply

Knocked her out? For several hours? He attacked her during the day and she was lying there in his shack at night. And he didn't restrain her at all?

Come on. I think you might be trolling me.

reply

He attacked her during the day? No, it was obviously at night.

He didn't restrain her? We see her reaction and then next we seen her in Jason's shack what happened in between in, is anyone's guess.

Trolling you? Get real. Everything I've mentioned is ambiguous in these movies and open to debate. If anyone is trolling it's you. You mentioned Vera getting killed from a few feet away and Teri getting attacked during the day neither are debatable just blatantly false.

reply

The scene with Terry is not ambiguous. I was wrong about it being during the day, it happened around dusk, but it happened well before that scene in the shack where her DEAD body is discovered.

It's ridiculous to assume Jason would just leave her there and count on her staying unconscious without tying her up. She's clearly not restrained in the scene where she's discovered.

So is insisting that Chris and Paul were captured and taken to Jason's home when there is NO EVIDENCE AT ALL for it in the movies.

reply

Teri was attacked at night. Why do you keep questioning something that's not debatable?

"That night, Ginny Field, Paul Holt, Ted and the rest of the Counselors decide to go into town for one last party at Casino Bar. Mark, Vicky, Terry and Scott decide to stay back at the camp"

As you said, Teri is attacked well before she is shown in the shack. Jason could've had her restrained at some point. Why did Teri have such a insignificant wound compared to the others? If Teri was immediately killed why didn't Jason bring bring Ralph or Scott's corpse to shack when they were killed before her?

I never insisted that that Chris and Paul were kidnapped. Yet the movies gives evidence for it. The problem is you won't admit that Teri was killed at night or Vera was killed farther than few feet when the movies without question prove that you are wrong. No way are you are going to accept any kind of opened ended scenarios.

This makes no sense. She's clearly not tied up when her DEAD body is discovered. What did he do? Tie her up while unconscious and then untie her? No.

And there's no evidence he captured and kept anyone else. It's never mentioned, never suggested, never implied. You brought it up as proof that the original Jason took prisoners, and it's clearly not.

That's all there is to it. I'm done with you.

reply

Again, I never said there was any proof that's a lie. The fact that you avoided answering the questions I asked shows that it opens the possibility and that hurts your argument so it's easier just to bail.

reply

I just disliked his unmasked look in this one. Other than that, I liked this reboot and wish it had sequels.

reply

Yeah. And he was too fast in this. At point In the underground tunnel system he takes off on a full sprint. We all know Jason doesn't doesn't run. Too me its a major error in the film.

reply

Jason ran in part 2 when the cop was in pursuit and after Ginny. Part 4 Jason ran after Trish.

reply

He kills someone at long range with a compound bow and arrow.

Not necessarily. In the 3rd movie he has a few long range kills including one with a harpoon gun.

reply

The harpoon kill wasn't that far away, and he was just making use of a weapon he stumbled upon. And he wasn't that far away from her. Could still look her in the eye.

It wasn't like he was going around carrying a long range weapon.

reply

You may need to revisit that scene. He shoots her from the docks and it was well over a few feet, thus requiring a bit of precision: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQfWibFXtO4

reply

I'd say it was about twenty feet away.

I still think that's different than Jason shooting at a guy in a boat from the shore with some fancy compound bow, assassin style. Just my opinion.

reply

The whole kidnap the girl who looks like his mother ?! thing was annoying af
Can't remember why he didn't kill her @ the camp

This film was a train-wreck even for F13 standards

reply

"This film was a train-wreck even for F13 standards"

-I'm guessing you haven't seen A New Beginning or Jason Goes to Hell, huh?

As far as I'm concerned, Friday the 13th doesn't have "standards."

reply

What are you talking about? New Beginning was good. It's the shit that came after that sucks.

reply

A New Beginning was a mess, for more reasons than I can be bothered mentioning. The series went down hill after, yes, but that was more after part 7, cause' Jason Lives and New Blood are generally regarded among the better movies.

reply

It got censored more heavily than my liking, but it is a really good effort that still kept the horror and whodunnit vibes of the first movie.

reply

I think the series would have done better, had it gone with the original idea after 5, Tommy going nuts and becoming the new killer. An out-there idea, but would have still grounded it in reality, and you didn't need "jason" for it to be successful, 1 and 5 proved that.

reply

honestly New Beginning was sorta OK.. and I didn't mind Jason Lives because it took a whole new dark humour turn.

anything since 6 for me is MEH

reply

The series going comedy is where it lost me.

reply

yes but part 6 was original at the time hence pretty good.

Jason X was maybe TOO much comedy. i dunno.. can't expect much quality from a F13 movie anyway lol
