WTF what happened between season 2 and season 3?

I thought that netflix might've passed over an episode by accident or accidentally didn't upload one...

Nope. The season just ended (with a lame episode, obviously, because I didn't even realize I was watching a season finale) and the next episode was like a year later and everything was different, they skipped the championship game and completely passed over Smash's not being able to play for a few games and then he all of a sudden comes back with an injury?

And where TF is Santiago?

What happened? Did the show almost get cancelled? Did they cut the season short out of nowhere?

Season 2 suffered an early ending because of the writer's strike. That's part of why Season 3 began with Coach's press conference about Smash and the team. Santiago was just written out.

Show was another casualty of the writers strike as mentioned, and also production changed behind the scenes so some change ups were made.
