Jez, how many pages are in this thing?

Sometimes you see them write a name real large, taking up 1/2 a page. With names, and descriptions, etc, you would think the book would have been filled up right around the time L shows up....

It would have been interesting if it had been a part of the rules. Rule 238: Once the notebook is full, the owner will die. It would be wise to ask the Shinigami King to exchange for a new Note before using the last page.

This way, Light would have to be more inventive in how to use it, as he would not have access to the Shinigami King.

We're talking about a book that kills people just because their names are written in it. It's not far-fetched to imagine that its pages are self-replenishing.
