Does anyone know why he was written out after the first season? Did the writers believe Rachel would be better single or did JPF decide to leave?
I just started watching on Netflix and was surprised that Rachel's marriage so early. I liked Joe a lot.
I liked Joe too. I thought that he brought an interesting element to the series, and the actor gave some really incredible performances (the scenes with he and Sarah in therapy in the "Love Is Difficult" episode is worth mentioning.)
I disliked how he was written in season two, but he was very sympathetic for the majority of the first year- I would have even been willing to forgive his kiss with Rebecca, so long as he continued to fight for his marriage.
I thought it was kind of odd that the woman head of household situation was
unsuccessful. Joe, the stay at home parent seemed OK to begin with, but the
whole thing did not leave enough extra time for the family to get in trouble.
After a while Joe started looking shabby and I knew he was going to get written
out.
