No snipers or thermal imaging?

I watched this movie last night and I was pretty bothered by the fact that the IDF did not retaliate against the shelling and missile attacks. Why didn't they use sniper and/or thermal imaging to take out the attackers? I am in no way an expert on this matter but they have a great vantage point and are attacked every day. What about sending in a UAV in the air? Have snipers and spotters? Is it really that difficult to find the attackers when they are in the process of shelling of firing missiles. You also have equipment that can give you information about bullets trajectories and thus their point of origin by analyzing the sound. I assume the same equipment can be used for mortar shells.

Any comments on this?

well, i think the fort just wasnt too close for snipers range (the range they shot the missels from was something like 5 kilometers), Besides that, they had a very small force on that fort (something like 12-15 pepole) so attacking the arabs in any way would result a massive missles attack on the fort and bringing it down in most cases.

Anouther thing is, the israeli army (IDF) cares really hard about each of the soldiers lifes, so they perfer not doing any movements when theres allmost no forces on that fort (only 12-15 pepole)..

And, Even in the movie the officer asks a higher rank than him, 'Why we are not doing anything?' means he wanted to do something, but higher ranks wouldnt allowed such a thing, because the higher ranks knew that if only sucha small force will try do anything, most of the chances the fort would go down eventaly by starting a war.
